I'd take prints of those over the slugs.

Has anyone looked onto attaching a wall mounted tv stand to his display stand? It would include stud attachments, have a flex bar and be weight rated.

Why not just replace the stand with something custom and metal? I'd still look to put a mini-shelf (hardwood) under it for support. Well, tiny as the width x 12" deep is. It's a good idea ... something I've never thought of.

If something like this could be used, it saves a lot of time and effort on a custom job.

And you know it's built to hold 20lbs and would allow some posing in either mode while mounted instead of using table space.

Well, if 20 lbs is the edge of the weight range, it's not really a good idea. Now something made to hold 40 will hold 20 without problem. But you still have potential issues with weight distribution, potential issues with Unicron wanting to roll off and onto the floor..

If I were doing a custom wall-mount, I'd go so far as to rip off drywall, build foot-sized (bot mode) shelves mounted against the studs, while (mostly) hiding the shelf supports, and then re-drywall/spackle/paint the area. I'd not screw around with a 20-30 lbs $625+ item. The shelf would hold bulk of weight, and then some sort of custom mount would further secure it to the wall. He would not move, even if I beat on the wall.

I think a lot of people should keep this guy on the floor, floor shelf of shelving unit, an old-school CRT TV stand, a short dresser, etc. I just don't think mounting it from a wall, the ceiling, etc -- especially in planet mode -- will end well.

I know we'll see "OMG, my Unicron fell and broke" posts from bad displaying. :(

I was half-jokingly suggesting the use of an articulating arm to hold Unicron that is aesthetically similar to that shown holding the Inspector’s sledgehammer.

Ah! Makes sense now. Context is everything!

To be fair, an upsized reinforced version of that would actually look pretty cool - holding Unicron by his stand, or pretty much anything else you'd care to have it hold in fact

I've just been looking at those measurements above. Oh my, all my plans have gone out of the window for where/how to display him.

Those thinking of shelving ideas bear in mind you're going to need a 2 foot deep shelf. My current mp collection is shelved with a 16 inch depth. I think the old TV stand is a better way to go now. I like the ideas of a custom glass topped display stand idea but I'm not sure the wife would be as understanding at some of the prices I've seen on here.
    Great discussion topic too.

Actually, that’s the one measurement they failed to provide. But yes, if the drawing is properly scaled, total depth (incl. the slightly protruding teeth) should be around 24”.

That’s what I had inferred when the pictures were posted on Seibertron. That’s double the depth of most shelving or glass displays lol. Depending on how much clearance is wanted between the front of the display and the front of the planet mode I’m guestimating 36x36x36” for the display. That is pretty massive. I don’t really want something sticking out 3 feet from the wall haha. I hope they give us exact measurements during production.

One idea I had was a 36” deep, 36” high, and 5’ long display. Similar to counter displays in many stores, but higher up. At least 3’ off the ground. Use this to create a huge diorama with Unicron and other WFC releases, especially chapter 3. I’m torn though. I would like Unicron to be more of a centrepiece. In a display I can access easily to take him out from time to time to play with and transform lol.

Plenty of time to ponder it and see what others are doing.

crt tv wall.jpg A wall-mounted TV stand for the old-school TV's would be pretty perfect for this. It would simply be a matter of securing the stand to the shelf.

That 24” needs some breathing room, but 36” width is extreme for just Unicron. But yeah, you can make a nice WFC diorama with those measurements (a cdiorama needs proper depth). I would increase the height though, planet mode height measures 34.7”; so 36” will make him look caged up.

Yep! That is what I was thinking too. I figure I have a year to make up my mind. A lot of it will have to do with the chapter 3 WFC releases, unless I do a Cybertronian display with all of the Siege releases. It is a fun problem to have :)

I really hope they add another inch or 2 in Unicron’s height. I just feel like his upper body needs to be taller.

Then he can be the biggest Transformers ever

The hell are you talking about? He's already the tallest by ~5", and the heaviest by at least double.

The toy's already designed, and they're spinning up the production cogs now. No significant redesigns at this point.

I do wonder where he think they can magically just insert two inches into the design and retain everything else already established.

considering we are talking about shelves/stands/display plans for our Unicrons i figured i would throw my hat into the ring.

I plan on making him his own podium. I'm gonna find myself one of those taller barstools with the adjustable heights and replace/permanently cover the seat with a custom made ruined Cybertron diorama with spots for his feet to rest in Unicron shaped foot holes. I may also make a similar type of slot + shaped slot for his actual stand too i can use it to display planet mode as well hovering over a ruin Cybertron.

It's a barstool so i'm not gonna have to worry about weight at all. I might make the base a little wider depending on what kind i end up with just to make sure it won't tip over easily. thoth even then it would be nestled in a corner ive got set aside just for this display im planning. I highly doubt id have to worry about it getting knocked over.

So...I had a dream last night (DAMN realistic btw) that somehow production for Unicron moved along faster than Hasbro anticipated and we ended up getting him half a year early. Any chance of that actually happening? Probably not.
