This is the best fanmode I've seen in terms of making everything line up to suggest the original toy, rather than fitting a square in a circle, trying to make a Cromar that was originally a Six-Gun and was only meant to be that. Well done!
Baltmatrix had trouble with the head not wanting to be moved which broke in half when he forced it to.
I don't normally dabble in thread necromancy. I also know I'm a little late to the party but after getting the Siege 3 pack with Aragon for a good price I decided to go back and get the other Powerdashers. First, I will say that the Sixgun mold is my favorite of the weaponizers but Cromar takes it to another level. The black and red really look good on this figure and that remolded head gives me a gobots vibe and that's not a bad thing. Overall it gives me a Gobots Fitor vibe.
I picked him up off Amazon a week ago along with greasepit because I had an itch for some weaponizers and he works fantastic for prime too. Pretty much he can go with anybody, he's that good.
Know I'm a little late on this thread but just picked him up and wanted a bit of a different robot mode than Sixgun and came up with this slight variation.
He's a great figure. Love the diff looks you can give him and configurations. Have never added him to any figure and like him as he is. Looks great with sky lynx though
Cromar was $10 from Hasbro Toy Shop on eBay and free shipping on orders over $15, I don't have any nostalgia for the Powerdashers but I have a soft spot for Weaponizers so I went for it. A repaint of Sixgun with a new head, Cromar's dark colors feel more akin to a Decepticon than an Autobot. This review's going to assume you're familiar with the Sixgun mold, a fun weaponizer with a less-than-stellar alt mode Pluses: + color scheme works a lot better than Sixgun's bland look, probably would have sold better as a mainstream release than Sixgun's uniform white and red + no lazy weathering paint + deco feels more complex, with at least 4 apps on the face, detailing on the chest missile pods, and dark red paint breaking up the cast-red parts, as well as black paint over a lot of the torso + head is a very good homage to the original while updating the look with a nicely complex sculpt + weapon modes and individual components look decent in these colors + most of the joints are at least as solid as Sixgun Minuses: - feet are even looser than on Sixgun - Cromar's likeness has a menacing sculpt but the deco, while complex, is a bit clownish - build quality is hit-or-miss, my copy came with gaps in the head and one of the legs - official transformation is lame and not a good homage to the G1 character - head a clumsy fit in covering panels in alt mode Other Thoughts: * the room for fan modes with this mold that better fit Cromar, and just look better in general, is considerable * the color breakup makes this mold's range of motion stand out well Overall: I wasn't expecting to like Cromar more than Sixgun, but that's how it turned out. The portrait is unusual at first, especially the big red nose and odd head shape, but the complex sculpt and multiple deco ops in metallics work out well. The overall figure's colorscheme makes a so-so mold pop better as well. Worth picking up, especially at $10 each.
Thanks for the heads up with the HTS deal. I just got one as well. I was considering going back for Cog and Sixgun, but I'll take this in place of Sixgun and save a bit of money.
