It's the promo art for MP-44.

I spent too long trying to figure out why your post starts with "No," I give up. It seems to be a disagreement about what "facts" and "opinions" are.

I get it though, people like different things.

I actually prefer the MP-03 Version of the seeker mold.

I think the perfect seeker sits inbetween these two. I've got MMC Inferno and tried to make him more cartoon but have ordered TT Inferno and will try and make it more toy like. My Optimus Prime of choice (at the moment) is the head of TE-01 (cartoon/character accurate) with MS-01 body which has more real world detail. It is a real balancing act which X-Transbots and Fanstoys seem to have nailed. _DSC3419.jpg

Yea, I probably came off more disparaging as I intended.

I don't prefer it, but I love Greenscream. He makes a great new Seeker to the group and the hip parts make him stand out.

Speaking toy molded Mps. I would buy the shit out of toy representations of Ironhide and Ratchet. Kinda like their WWI models.

See that is exactly why I love the MT seekers. To my eye their design looks cleaner and sleeker. Many of the figures nowadays are too busy in their aesthetic. Guess to each their own.

For me the difference there is between people who 'auto filter' every photo to a bland, smooth mess, and prefer it to the natural state which actually shows detail :)  Pre-instagram generation and post-instagram generation, if you will.

None of it matters to me honestly. Not much anymore anyway. The G1 cartoon designs I'm sorry to say are not the greatest and nor were the toys if we really really want to get down to brass tacks and all that. I just simply prefer the approach of keeping things modern and up-to-date using the latest in toy technology and current designs of what exists Today. I hate Slavishly G1 Cartoon Toys. They look campy and silly overall to me especially the cell shaded nonsense. Sorry but not sorry. It's a shame toy companies need approval from various companies to use their likenesses. Once upon a time, that was never an issue. Anyway, like I said, Modernized interpretations are where it's at for me. It's 2019 Folks. Most of the G1 Cast's Season 1 and 2's Alt modes are just too heavily outdated for me. So, I can no longer identify with any of them anymore. And yes, I am 43 years old. I am an OG fan of Transformers. I'm just at that point in life were I no longer care for Nostalgia Memberries. I want to keep moving forward, not stay stuck in the past.

IIRC MT had some elements that were more toy-accurate than MMC's but overall MMC (Girder?) has the tall, slender stature of the toy. MT did that weird thing where they made the legs massive; just look at their Pandinus & Hound (Gundog?). Same thing with those two. Ruins their figures a little, for me. That said; I'd go MMC over TT for Grapple/Inferno anyday. Only thing TT has really is the folding armature.

I'm all in for the toon accurate MT style, same with TE-01 and simplified designs, I find they look better and clearer on the shelf. I'm cool with some extra details but the original Seekers just seem to have details for detail sake like Siege figures where it's not really adding anthing to the whole package. I think the chests look better without the visible turbines, but that might just be me.

I want better seekers than the MP-11 mold, and I would have been in for the MT seekers if they'd had a few more of the fundamental geometric details of the seekers and basic masterpiece-grade elements for figures that size like articulated fingers. Also, they go after being very posable but forget the basics, like being able to look upward, which is pretty important when you're wanting to look right in crouched poses and ironman fist-to-ground poses, or even just talking with a taller bot like a combiner or Skyfire. MT went cheap on their seekers and it shows in a lot of the little things they either overlooked or cut for budget, enough of which are missing to make them a pass.

I'm more open to MT's Coneheads but I still don't care for the same shortcomings the Seekers have, like the tiny, flipper/mitten hands, the gap in the wrists, the lack of geometry, and I'm curious to see if the plastic material is more substantial or still dangerously thin at some points.

I personally LOVE toon accuracy. There's just something amazingly beautiful about a MP TF figure that looks like it's walking straight out of the screen, covered in paints and has more articulations than a human being. It's a tremendous engineering feast.

There are some concerns however e.g. over-engineering, too many parts (thus increase the likelihood of part failure/breakage), unfun transformation.

Well, there was no hostility in my original post, so try not to read into it that way.

Just like when I tell you to avoid wearing your feelings openly on the internet. It'll only make things unnecessarily difficult.

Anyway, tooncentric G1 Masterpiece is only going to implode the line. But not before the "long life" designs that break out of the box.

What's this new figure turn into? Why, a pile of broken bits!

Don't mind him, he's tinder. And a bit hypocritical in his mindset that we are foolish for wanting to go back to a style established 10 years ago and, therefore, "old" while he celebrates a "new" style established on inconsistent animation, heavily glazed in 35 years of childhood nostalgia.

Interestingly enough, a style that heavily comprises the well established classic and animation faithful transformation [the one true purposeful gimmick of the franchise] trading it for Badcube levels part explosions and panel folding. And, oddly, not doing quite as good of job as third parties to accomplish their goals. And all that for $400.

Remember when people hated Badcube transformations?

I’d really like to see what Shogo-era MPs could have done with the parts count and articulation of current MPs

My main preference is all toon but I tend to be all over the place at times. For instance, I have the + versions of swipe and alert but not the more toon centric Badcube versions. I just like the TT look for these figures better. I have DX9 Carry because I think it’s a fun bot and I'm not as beholden to the toon look post Season 1. I also have MS and TE Prime but not MP-44. I think MP-44 looks the best, but the price/QC issues just aren't worth it for me personally. That's the fun part of this hobby to me. One collector's gold is another's garbage. I'm sure many people would scoff at some of the figures I prefer, but it's all subjective. I do think we're in the golden age for collectors though. There are great options at legends, CHUG, and MPs that should satisfy almost every taste out there.
