Reissues generally have a different stamp on the figure. Plus some have different features often used because of issues with the original mold, etc.

KOs are bad! And every time on is bought Jimmy goes blind because his eyes melted. Plus he also grows hair on his palms. But this also can be due to him being curious about his Dad's "secret magazine." Other than that knock offs tend to range from poor quality to missing a feature (i.e. a stamp of a sticker, etc.).

Originals depend on their release date so the stamp should vary from whichever period they were released. But should be easy to tell an original by its copyright date stamp.

And I believe there are a few sites that talk about this. Or even topics here. Something I would normally post but this is a super busy week. So all I can do is hope that what I have offered is of some help.

High quality KOs can be so close to the real thing it’s scary. But there are usually small tells in the casting of the figure and/or the color of the plastic. For instance, the KO of Scorponok that’s been floating around has subtle color differences (green is a little too rich) and his accessories have some of the mold gaps filled in (the bar on the elevator platform piece should have a big slot, not on the KO). Most figures have a thread somewhere or a website page for the differences. Reissues like to have small design changes oftentimes and those are listed on TFWiki.net.

Thanks! More to come as I uncover my collection if anyone is interested. Some have price tags from other countries too.

Edited my post to say it's not just the box, mint contents with polystyrene insert.

Not everything I have is mint, but I still love it.

Here's my Ceji France-manufactured Thrust, incomplete, paint and sticker worn with one leg very much refusing to point the right way.

Plastic nosecone and black plastic wheels are major distinguishing features from Hasbro.

Red-faced construction Autobots unite! Scored these 2 in an eBay auction, couldn't be happier.

Erector is my first G1 micromaster, didn't really think I would get into micromasters, but this guy is just full of personality. Really dig his alt mode.

Wideload is my first Throttlebot, originally only wanted Goldbug, but I'm a sucker for dump trucks so of course he would find a way into my collection. Question about the Throttlebots: I know that the rear wheels slide up behind the front wheels, but Wideload's are stuck. The figure itself was a bit dirty and sticky, so I'm guessing that's the problem, but am I missing something else, like a latch or something that releases it? Just don't want to be pushing on it & break it.

Erector is an awesome figure and he needs an update. I would love for the designer who did sea spray to design his update.

Some more original boxes with UK price tags

Terrorcon Hun Gurrr from Children's World - if you peek in the box you can see some Pretenders Pincher and Stranglehold.

Slapdash from Toys R Us - again you should spot Gunrunner in there with him.

That was the deal back in those days, dispose of most of the boxes and use the remaining for storage. Being the youngest, I never had a say and I always knew it was the wrong thing to do.

Sorry for digging up old post, but had to reply to this.

Ah Hamley's, lucky you! But very sad to lose something before even getting him home.

That is exactly the reason why my mum never let us open them while outside. I think she had some kind of foresight that bad things will happen during the excitement. So we learned to stare lovingly at all parts of the box and whatever contents we could peek at, with that anticipation of getting our treasure home. I still love doing that to this day.

Yeah, despite losing the gun, it was a fun week-long trip with my parents. Actually, it's the only time I've ever really visited London, instead of just passing through the airport on my way to Germany or Norway. Also got my Technobots at Harrod's during that same trip.
Hamley's was definitely cool. I remember just about buying a Gobots Monsterous and handling a demo M.A.S.K. Outlaw while there.

Even back then, I was pretty good about not losing accessories, but I think this incident may have been the last time I ever opened a toy before getting it home (or at least back to a hotel or something).

I went years without Springer's propeller blades/saber and Defensor's blast shields, finally getting them online. I had to make Springer's car mode his "resting" mode and his third form into a makeshift "plane". For Defensor, just kept Hotshot's chest plate up (though it didn't look great).
