Takara Tomy’s official Transformers Twitter account said they are doing a new 6 robot combiner, named Raiden, as part of a cross promotion with railroad companies around the world.

Like, if that doesn’t say “New Raiden”, I literally don’t know what does.

That just made me think: What if it isn’t a faithful G1-update but instead a "new" Raiden composed of 6 different, more modern trains? That would be kinda cool actually.

If the project is in fact some kind of Raiden update, I'm torn between wanting this to be a CW compatible Raiden and wanting it to be the beginning of Micromaster combiner teams.

The thing is, both are completely valid approaches. You could do an updated Micromaster combiner that finds a way to retain the original concept while adding modern articulation.

Or, you could do an updated Raiden that plays off his role as a transport...and let him combine into a giant robo while also being 6 train cars that can carry Micromasters around. (And could potentially ride around on stuff like Omega's track.

I don't want to get my hopes up, because there's potential in either approach. But also because there's a good chance "Project Raiden" is something else.

EDIT: It has been brought to my attention I have (once again) gotten Sixtrain and Raiden confused.

This combined with the regular CW scale is what would get me on board. A Titan sized Raiden would be stupid and unnecessary.

Why not both? Have Takara do Raiden now, & in the next part of War for Cybertron do the Sixteams at Micromaster size then? Do three two-packs per wave, & each full wave forms a deluxe sized bot (like a tiny version of Combiner Wars) I feel it’s the natural progression for the Micromaster Combiner squads they’ve started releasing this year.

Oh I'm fine doing both...I just don't want to mix up a possible Raiden update with a Sixtrain update. They'd be too completely different things.

This sounds much cooler than a faithful G1 update in my opinion. Think of the more diverse locomotive designs to pick from and the different ways they can approach the robots.

That said, the G1 designs are actually quite varied and distinct for the time, especially compared to the Scramble City combiners that followed, so honestly I'd be happy either way.

This is what I think, based on the "cross-promotion" bit of the announcement. Kind of sounds like these will be licensed by the train companies.

if this is a new raiden toy, i\'m saying it now, i\'m going to try my hardest to get them, if they end up being titan size like predaking and devastor, welp, my dream for them have come true, if not, i\'m still getting them because it raiden.

New mold or reissue, I hope it will be easier to get than the @#&%! Seacons. I have had every combiner at one point, except for the Trainbots. I would love to have one.

Quick, what can we retool? :D

Seriously, it would be neat to get new, decent Train bots.
