I still have no idea what you’re trying to say with this. Also, I don’t think it’s any secret I work for MMC? (that doesn’t mean anything according to this thread tho  )

That doesn’t stop me from liking products from other companies. Why would it? I love Roadking and Phoenix for example.

Don’t feel like you have to beat around the bush with me if you think I’m biased or untrustworthy, just say so.

 

The only Fanstoys figures I've ever transformed are Spotter because I had them displayed as a camera for a while in my office. I have zero interest in breaking them and they look best as robots to me anyway. It also doesn't help that I have very little time to actually transform/play with my toys so I actually have quite a bit of figures that are displayed in alt mode or in their boxes lol.

 

For those who are having trouble with the neck pegging in correctly. I found that I had to position the backpack on mine just right for the neck peg to slot in correctly and sit firmly in place. Hope that helps.

 

i get the aesthetic of the color choice. I can totally envision someone looking at the 2 dull blue colors on a physical prototype and deciding that it didnt look sexy enough..... Traditionally I have always liked fans toy's aesthetic decisions they have made on some figures that veer from the g1 animation models and dont reflect a toy design. I think the idea of the finish is well intentioned, but yeah that color aint right in hand, to red. on the shelf he looks like a real rich pretty blue, so it doesnt bother me. but if you want to see the purple, you can see it.

Of course what looks right to you depends entirely on which version of the movie you grew up with. I had the 25th(?) anniversary DVD, and now the blue ray, and jabber looks right for that.

 

The more I look at it, the off centered knees are really throwing me off. Like I missed a transformation step or something.

 

Is it morons? Or they have us by the balls like I said. Is it dumb to buy something you really truly want and enjoy for your collection. It’s more like it’s wrong for FT to do that switch n bait. If/when the second corrected painted version comes out it will unfortunately sell out. It won’t teach FT anything and it probably won’t teach fans anything.

I don’t see many fans actually saying NO to a repaint or saying NO as in boycotting a company for “shady” “bait n switch” practices.

This is the third party world we live in. FT has thrived for a reason.

 

I survived the transformation without breakage or stress marks.

 

Exact same place for mine (im one of those previously posted, not new), 1 cracked two thirds of the way across, the other stress marked, however i would caution others that mine was not nearly this visible, and needed a high powered light to see.
I used a tiny bit of superglue to seal, applied very carefully with the end of a needle (so not to glue it to the part its pinned to).
I also sliced the tabs off these light blue sections so the stress on these parts was less. It creates a bit of a gap, but not as large a gap as if the part broke off!
Though still difficult, its been transformed there and back twice, with no worsening. This was not a fun transformation, and i usually have no problem with fanstoys figures.

Dinobots, Mindwipe and Weirdwolf are pretty easy. I don’t mind Kup’s, either. But, different strokes for different folks.

Been waiting for him and I'm extremely happy with how he turned out.

 

I transformed mine once. Not sure if they were there before, but I have slight stress marks on mine.

Now that I have this guy in hand, there is no question, this is purple. Speaking for myself, under my lights, there is no "sometimes its blue sometimes its purple", its firmly purple. He doesn't look bad but he doesn't look as good as the promo pics either. In the end, he'll have a home on my shelves and its not the end of the world but I expect better than bait and switch from FansToys.

 

Under the florescent lights in my office he looks passably blue, will be interesting to see how he looks under the LED's in my display when I get home.

 

I officially name the color "Blurr-ple"

 

Got mine today. Definitely blurple, dalianjj is color blind if he thinks this is blue. Mine doesn't have cracked joints but it does have the odd swirls lines in the plastic like someone else showed, but mine aren't as visible. Mine also can hold up his guns just fine with no issue, the shoulders are about just right on tolerance.

Definitely my last FT preorder though. If they had just went with the original blue instead of blurple i would really like it.

Mine had that odd fishy smell as soon as i opened the box. I think it is the foam. The foam we use for shipping at work smells exactly the same.
