18 years ago today...

 

Tornado warning in my area. Hate those warning. Makes me wish I still lived in my last home town. We didn’t have warnings there often. In fact, there was only one warning when we lived there.

 

Bought a bicycle on amazon for my vacation and was apparently delivered by fedex and left at front door.

Couldn’t find it anywhere... wasn’t going to let that ruin my plans. Bought a pretty good mountain bike out of town and loved my trip!

Amazon ended giving me a refund a few days ago.

After coming back to the city, I took my new bike for a ride, left it outside a library and now it’s been stolen....

Called the police, told me to go fill out a form online.
The form online tells me to call them...
Finally connected with the police and they said they’d meet me at my house to file a report...never showed.

Great trip, now no bike... hate coming back to my city...

 

My cousin's boyfriend is being a douchebag. He called my daughter a hoochy mama which is something no grown man should ever call a sixteen year old girl, even as a joke and had the nerve to get pissed off when I had to tell him TWICE to NEVER call her that again. We got into a screaming and name-calling match. He can insult me, that's fine because I'll insult him right back. But he's got no business saying something like that to my daughter.

Call me petty people, but I've had enough of him and I'm not helping him do shit and I told him my daughter isn't helping either.

And if my cousin gets upset with me, too damn bad.

 

I'd have a hard time calling you petty over something like that. You love your daughter and some people seem to think that just because something is a joke that everyone should find it funny.

Minor gripe, but more than a pet peeve. I am so tired of being tired. Like, I am always sleepy. I used to have way more energy than my age would allow but after the accident... I find myself having fun writing, but once I take a break to get my bearings I just find myself floating through some haze. It's like that was caused something to catch up to me.

My partner, conversely, spends time on the internet and often comes at me with cool ideas, ready to go. Like, I'm impressed.

Work...

They've started letting five guys on our team come in two hours early to get the trucks unloaded before the rest of us show up which ultimately means they leave two hours earlier then the rest of the team. I've had four days on that shift and it was ultimately the best time I've actually had at work and the two hour change means a world of difference to me. What pisses me off though is the fact that while I only got four days on that shift others are getting it for two, three or more weeks in a row. Someone even has had their entire schedule change to this permanently from what I've been told. I went to them on three different occasions trying to get this change permanently but they keep giving me excuse after excuse saying they'll take care of it, I'll talk to management, oh they haven't talked to me, etc. To add insult to injury a lot of the guys getting this are guys who don't put in as much effort as me, hell I've been on this team longer then anyone else granted seniority means jack sh*t. It pisses me off because I'm always getting screwed over by the company I've worked for for the two & a half years I've worked for them. I work harder then anyone else and they always remind me but to me it just comes off as an excuse for them to give me the hardest job while everyone is able to put in just a little less effort.
I've currently been looking for another job but where I live there aren't many options and half of the jobs I don't qualify for.

I'm tired of being tired, stressed, anxious, and overly angry & depressed to the point it pisses me off seeing others being happy. People have tried to get me to talk about everything that's going on more then just the surface but I refuse. Talking has done nothing, I'd rather bottle it up.

Two former classmates have dropped dead from drug overdose within a week.

 

I got fired yesterday morning.

3 years with this company, 10 years with it's parent company. So 13 years overall.

They gave me a BS reason, said I violated a company policy by doing something that I've been doing for the past 3 years, but never mentioned it at any time. No emails, nothing in my reviews, nothing.

Called me into the office at the last minute Tuesday morning, suspended me, then fired me yesterday morning.

 

I got a job finally, haven't been here a month yet and I hate it already. I'm struggling to make ends meet and have a lot of catch up to do on my bills. Starting next month I'll have to pay rent again, that's gonna make it harder to meet goals. My kiddo's birthday is next month and he wants a new Switch (he had one but decided to "clean" it and it died). I'm hurting physically and mentally trying to figure things out and how I'm gong to be able to do everything that I need and want to do.....I'm tired of doing this adulting shit....I missed work today for a job interview that would be much better, but I don't think I'll get it due to certain demands of the job that weren't posted in the listing...I cannot seem to get ahead no matter what I do. Christ....I just need to catch a break....

 

Had a package stolen while I was out getting my haircut.

Was it via the post office or Fed ex/UPS?

Because if it was the post office, you can at least arrange it so future packages won't be left, and you can pick up at the post office.

That's what I did after a package got stolen from me.

 

It was a Fed Ex package.

My roommate ordered the package for me. He orders lots of packages from Amazon. While I was getting my haircut my roommate was sleeping because he was sick. We both got surprised once we found out it came Monday the tracking number had it set for Thursday.

Sometimes we pick up the packages from the office or the guy knocks on the door. Sometimes they don't knock and they just leave the package at the door or give it to the wrong person.

My roommate orders so many packages he kinda assumed that the guy would take it to the office himself or take it back with him if no one answered the door.

 

This one is a doosy...

My wife purchased a Samsung s10 as a Birthday gift for me back in May from AT&T. At the time, they were running a BOGO promotion, which they presented to us, so we asked if we could think about it and were told, "Sure, the promo ends in two weeks, so if you decide to get another line by then, come back in and we'll do it for you. You can do this at any AT&T store, so you don't have to return to this one." On the last day of the promo, I decided to take them up on their offer and get a phone for my Dad for Father's day as his was stolen from the gym he goes to.

I went to another store that was closer to my house and got the other phone under the BOGO promo. The explanation given to us for the conditions were that the free phone would show up on the statement for 3 months and then be credited the next three months. Sounds stupid, but whatever.

Well, on the 4th month, the there's still a charge, so I took my documentation to the store and told them the situation. The manager said that because it was the last day of the promotion, the credit would be applied on the next month. Two weeks later, the next month's statement showed up and there's no credit, so we went back to the store and was told that because we paid the phone off, the system doesn't recognize the promotion and that we should go back to where we purchased the first phone. We went back to that store and they gave us another line of crap and said they couldn't do anything because the manager wasn't in and that we need to contact AT&T's loyalty customer service.

When we got home, that was the first thing we did and after two hours of being on hold, department switches, BS and red tape, they said that there's nothing they can do AND that we shouldn't have been allowed to get the second line because the promotion expired! In a nutshell, they said that we're responsible for ENTIRE the cost of the second phone THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE FREE. Because their employees screwed up and gave us an expired promotion, the system doesn't recognize it and "there's nothing we can do" which is the worst thing you can tell someone in customer service. We were also told that all we could do is go back to the original store to see if the manager could expedite a case on his end. Keep in mind that we don't live anywhere near this store. When we purchased the phone, we just happened to be in the area shopping.

Basically, AT&T punished us because their employees don't know the policies, terms, conditions and expiration dates and they're all pointing the finger at someone else. As soon as I have the time, I'm going to cancel AT&T's service because this was the last straw. I've been a customer since they were Cingluar Wireless and while the customer service person apologized a multitude of times, "there's nothing we can do" for their admitted negligence is completely unacceptable. The loyalty rep said, "I can offer you a $20 credit for your time" and my wife, who never swears said, "Fuck your credit!" Even if they offered a $200 credit, it wouldn't be enough for the distress and time we've spent going back and forth with these guys, not to mention the gas going back and forth to these stores.

I called original store and left a message for the manager because he "was in a meeting", so we'll see if returns my call...

 

Work has been difficult. I have had a completely wrong job the last nine months. I knew that going into it but needed out of where I was. Well apparently now the chain of command is finally becoming aware of this as well. I was called in and asked "is this really the sort of work you want to do?" How do you even answer a question like that? Yes, I totally love sitting on my hands while incompetents stumble around? No, I totally hate sitting on my hands while incompetents stumble around?

I cannot stand working in state IT anymore. Every job is either being an H1B fuckup, cleaning up after H1B fuckups, or managing H1B fuckups. My position is a hybrid of B and C. We need to govern what they do, using tools they control, so every request for the tool to implement a policy is like Sisyphus and his boulder. Imagine you needed a light bulb changed. You could reach up and replace it inside of 60 seconds. Or you could let a blind clumsy brain-damaged idiot struggle for weeks, jumping up and down trying to jam a potato into the socket because hur dur cheepr.

Unfortunately, interviews haven't gone well. I had one where I was interested but don't expect to hear back. I had another with people that struggled to download my resume. I had a terrible one with three H1Bs. If I had known that beforehand, I would've no-showed. They had a laundry list of things they wanted, then mumbled and stuttered out dozens of questions about exactly one of them. It happened to be Angular, a framework for dummies to make cookie cutter websites. People think there weren't web applications before Angular was released in 2016. There were and they were better because everything didn't have to be shoehorned into a half-baked framework. Finally I had one where the person doing interviews decided to go on vacation for three weeks after posting the ad and then told me they probably wouldn't move forward until maybe January. Very frustrating.

Also I'm pretty pissed off that I wasn't able to clear out a batch of DC figures I'd picked up. I needed a Black Canary but wasn't about to pay $50 for her alone. I saw this lot full of $20-$40 figures priced at about $12 on average that included her. If I learned anything about selling toys, it's that people hate buying lots and will pay $80 for one before paying $50 for five. But for whatever reason, I just can't move this lot along for what I paid minus the $30 I took off for Black Canary. By my estimate, it's $650 worth of figures, and I can't get $225? Seriously?

I had one doosy story some years ago. My brother & I entered in a ‘social’ golf tournament. I asked a Field Official on a ruling to make sure everything was Kosher. Took his direction. Come the end of the 18th hole & the Chief Official says I broke the rules & was penalised. But wait... I followed the Field Official’s ruling. Supposedly, at the end of the day it’s my fault for following an Official’s direction.  

 

I am so sick and tired of every job I've had this year deciding to fuck me over.
The school I was at shut down not even a month after I got promoted and started making $20 an hour because my boss embezzled $100000 and skipped town.
Then that I was working for goodwill, got promoted to loss prevention, only to get fired for a combination of clocking in 10 minutes early a few times (which apparently counts as half an absence), and calling out once because I was having a severe allergic reaction and I was literally projectile vomiting.
Now my new job (working for a temp agency) is fucking me in the ass by not giving me any work, when I was literally promised work.
I'm at the point where I have to sell most of my collection (including a lot of stuff that I don't want to sell) in order to pay rent.

 

Don't take this the wrong way, but you being stuck with these figures is exactly why people hate buying lots and would rather pay more for one than less for a lot. No one wants the trouble of having to unload the figures they don't want. Especially with how eBay has been functioning lately. I swear if I would stop selling on eBay if there was a site that was a viable alternative.

 

Stuck is bad wording on my part. They're mostly figures that I'd keep if I had my display situation sorted out. I was just sure I had a buyer lined up for them. Now I have to do it the hard way.

Speaking of bad wording, the 3rd party editing of my post is ironic.
