Maybe it’s just me, but ever since generation two, the Transformers were becoming more organic like, starting with the robo genes. The concept of CNA is just stupid. How about coding, like computer coding instead? Them being made out of tiny bots is also dumb. We aren’t made of little humans. Now they can still be made out of living metal, but does it have to be made out nano bots? I don’t think so. Maybe living metal is just metal that happens to revival organic tissue, however, living metal is not some metallized organic skin. It’s probably called living metal because it imitates organic skin, but it in different way.

And let’s not forget about the bleeding. I prefer my bots to start sparking and smoking over bleeding. It reminds me that they are technological organism (they can be organism without being organic/organic). They should be living metallic beings. Robots. That what they should be. No genes. No nanites. None of that organic. Transformers should go back to that.

I think Beastwars would be most app. You know, getting organic and all.

I actually totally agree with the Op. I don't like Transformers have basically become metal humans.

Yet, ironically, the series to treat them the most like robots. Onboard computers, programming, constant talks of circuitry and the like. No "organs' or "biology" or "CNA." Closest you got were sparks, but they weren't explicitly organic or 1:1 with any for of biological life. They never bled, they sparked, they could even turn themselves "off and on."

No, but we're made of little things called cells.

As for "bleeding," they do have fuel lines like some other machines.

I do believe that they can have somewhat of a biology, but their biology is more robotic and not organic. Also I assume that they don’t mean organs in way we do.

Yeah, but fuel lines that run right below the surface? In the comics TF just gush purple goo from even the smallest gash, as if they're just plastic jugs full of grape juice.

That’s the one thing I hate about the IDW’s comics.

Like it or hate it, the Marvel G1 comics did a great job at letting you know that they were definitely robotic. In issue 5 most of the Autobot are dead and hanging up on hooks for parts, but they are still brought back on line a few issues later.

What next? Organic/organic like reproduction? Robotic eggs? Now I don’t mind kidformers as long they don’t come through organic or organic like reproduction and they don’t grow in organic way.

@K2flygurl You clearly have not watched "Transformers: Animated." It very much plays up the fact they're robots in many ways.

I am pleasantly surprised to see the OP isn't being ridiculed

I don't really have an opinion either way, but I guess it would be good to see TF's written more like robots again.

I feel the same a bit too; only a few series strike a good balance between making them mechanical and still giving them "humanity".They're robotic organisms; both of those words are important. Should they bleed Energon? Yes, but they should also spark and smoke, and have exposed machinery in their wounds. Would they breathe? No, but maybe they can ventilate. Do they have organs? Probably mechanical ones, like a fuel pump instead of a heart, a processor instead of a brain, optics instead of eyes, etc. But things like backing up a copy of their mind in case of death, having vital organs be as replaceable as parts for a car, living for literally billions of years, that would make them too invulnerable and distant for my preference. Stuff like that. Like I said, robotic organisms; there needs to be a balance.

Didn’t they actually give us robotic eggs in one of the Bay films?

Hasbro and people try to humanize them. I think that is a mistake. They have blended to much with the idea as seeing them as robotic humans. They need to be far away from human as possible. Not that they can't have human characteristics or emotions, not that at all. After all, they have been around us for some time now and they are sentient beings. They shouldn't be paralleled with humans in the way they function. Now that I say this, I don't have an idea that is a better parallel, but just an observation.

Beast Machines went too far with the Spark idea in my opinion. In that series, it went so far that a Transformer was pretty much a glowing orb ghost that could just inhabit anything.

I wouldn't say they're humanized or organic. I'd say that they are living creatures in their respective fiction and like all living creatures, have their own specialized parts needed to survive and some of those parts bear similarites to other creatures needed to continue being alive.

    Applejacktimus explained it very well.
