I agree. There may be a few people who still didnt have enough time to save and who might be willing to get one for double the cost or more later, but its not gonna be an item that people will be hunting for like crazy. I think there will be quite a few people who bought multiples with intention of selling for big profits who will end up being disappointed. I know that I have a few friends who tried to talk me into getting it just to sell later, saying that it would be an investment but to me thats not a smart investment.

Not especially. Amazon isn't packing it, so it won't come in a bubble mailer the size of a dishwasher.

My apologies as I forgot who said it first but I agree that Unicron will likely have an inverted bell curve on the secondary market. When he first comes out and starts getting reviews I can see the prices going upwards of 100% the original price but after that they will probably come back to earth. Over time—maybe the next several years—the price will likely climb again slowly as future collectors learn about or get the money to buy it as with regular figures. The heights that it reaches will depend a lot on the figure’s in-hand reputation and original buyers’ response. A great Unicron will obviously demand a better price but any build or quality control problems would certainly be reflected.

I plan on making a custom bracket and hang him from the ceiling in one of my collection rooms. Not sure what material I am going to try yet; thinking clear acrylic for the first go. The aftermarket accessory market for Unicron could be large and wonderful. Shapeways will probably have a decent variety of ships available but I am hoping Dr. Wu gets on the bandwagon and does some to scale highly detailed colored ones. Hopefully someone tackles the challenge of replacing Galvatron with a honest attempt at a decent figure. Also the Dinobots and Rodimus. We could conceivably recreate the entire final fight with the ships and individual characters as they feebly try to stop Unicron. Shockwave Labs will most likely offer many lighting options for the various lighting opportunities he will present; Shockwave Labs loves his LEDs. We will see if anyone takes on a rework of the leg kibble but it appears to be pinned so many people may not want to risk a disassembly of a $600 figure.

Looking forward to seeing him up close at TFcon later this month.

This kind of thing is exactly what I'm most looking forward to. There should be no shortage of add-ons that can be done for fairly cheap.

If what I heard is correct there will be a Hasbro display with current and future releases at TFcon this month. Unicron will be the center piece. Hopefully it will be the final production model.

I dont believe you heard correctly. TFCon has mostly 3rd Party vendors. Hasbro doesnt attend cause even though they have been slack on fighting the 3rd Party, they wont outright endorse it either by showing up to an event where they are all around them.

That's someone here's listing. Supposedly they got an offer for 1200...they probably should have accepted. I send a ridiculous lowball offer, but it got declined. I was shocked.

It did not make a lot of sense to me either being TFcon is primarily a 3P affair but it is the 35th Anniversary of Transformers and they may be trying to snatch a little of the fire for themselves. If Hasbro has a display in the dealer room it will be far better advertising for their stuff than any online/televised promotion. We will have to see if it actually materializes.

I'm sure we will. I'm not going to say you misheard (see above), but Hasbro's being at TFCon would be... highly unusual.

:D  I was actually a click away from submitting $15.50, but at the last second moved the decimal to make it $155.00. And yeah, I was expecting an auto-decline. I was slightly surprised when it wasn't...

What's that? Sending lol-offers or making lol-listings and asking $1500 for a toy that's still 18 months away from release...on eBay, no less, where your paypal and eBay protection would lapse long before you ever saw the product?

Personally, neither offend me, but if we're going to get pissy about the subject, which is the greater offense?
