Since they were fancy/luxury cars, I assume the "R" on the grill is "copyright-avoiding Rolls-Royce". Which is very appropriate for Slingshot, as he's half Rolls-Royce anyways, due to being a Harrier.

Yep. The best way to get a nice metallic is to paint it with a glossy silver and then hit it with a translucent paint.

Spoon on the left is Tamiya Clear Red straight on the spoon. The one on the right is Tamiya Clear red over Tamiya Titanium. Experiment with different shades of Silver and different numbers of coats of the red till you get the perfect match. Getting a clean coat of the translucent on a large area is tricky but on small parts it's pretty easy.

@Starganderfish Hey how many coats is that on the right side? Always been wanting to do that for all my Cons eyes but always had the fear of messing it up. Also the whole air brushing thing is all new to me and I highly doubt I can get that with a brush.

Sorry, It's not actually my picture. Came from this reddit thread:
Spoon on left is airbrushed straight Tamiya Clear Red and spoon on the right is Tamiya Clear Red over Tamiya Titanium. Does anyone know if it will come out this even when airbrushed on an entire model car body? : modelmakers

Testing colours on white plastic spoons is a whole thing for some folks. The white gives a truer example of what the final colour will be and the curve on the spoon helps to show the colour from different angles.
Every subsequent coat of the clear does make things darker, so I guess just grab some plastic spoons and have a go?
One of these day's I'm going to sit down and spray a bunch of spoons myself so I can better colour match...

Incidentally, the Tamiya clears are also pretty good for slightly darkening the shade of base colours as well. I repainted the roof on a KO MP-12+ (because the factory paint on the roof is never thick enough and the underlying translucent blue plastic always shows through). I hit it with a bright Tamiya red initially and it was just too red. I then hit it with a coat of the clear red, on a whim, and it's damn near perfect.

Airbrushing is kind of fun when you get the hang of it and honestly, for anything larger than eyes, you really need to airbrush in order to get the clean finish.

Broke Maverick transforming it dammit... The one of those metal swing arms was wayyy too tight on its peg and sheared it off trying to swing it down without too much effort. Should be repairable touch wood but still kinda sucks.

If you're only interested in using that technique for the eyes using citadel's gemstone paints might be a valid alternative. They work in pretty much the same way, you paint the eyes silver and then coat it with them and it gives them a nice and shiny finish. If i remember correctly bobby skullface said he used this method to paint the eyes of his zeta Bruticus in one of his video

the one on the right is almost close , i have some tamiya clear red spray paint at home and think i have some silver leaf left so going to have a few practice runs , although the silver leaf might not be strong enough in colour

Are we done yet with that old Jabby, and the old tech / designer?

Now lets pls move on to Goose, the real release we are ALL waiting on after Roadking / Meverick / Spoiler (and Quitus T). Then lets just concentrate on the rest of the Stunticons / Aerialbots / New improved Minibots / Triple Changers / Soudwave v2 / Trailbreaker v2 ? Just that list alone should keep FT busy for the next 3 years at least, nevermind the repaints or re-releases that will pop out.

Out with the OLD, and in with the NEW that is working better than ever right now.

Just 15 days away from November you know...GOOOOSE!!! Oh, and lets forget about Chomp fella... he feels a bit "jabby" if you know what i mean...

I wouldn't count any chickens just yet. There are some parts of Jabber's transformation which looked very similar to Maverick to me.

Well I decided to sell Kronos and just stick with Ethereaon. Need some space and I only need one to rep Superion. Yea, I may regret doing it if Kronos proves more stable, but oh well.

You know... With all these people getting chipped paint I wonder if there would be a market for Fanstoys to sell small paint chip "repair" samples. Kind of like for a car.

FT is accepting "internship applications" for their factory. That way you get to learn how to paint and become one of the QCxx. Awesome right?
