Yes, and that lesson is that FT should release photos of the actual for real finalized fresh from the factory ready to be boxed product and they should do so at least a few weeks before release. That way we'll know exactly what we're getting and there won't be a problem.

 

Depends on who you ask. Like you and most reasonable human beings, it's usually NICE to have something to look at right before you buy it... but given that everyone's camera is going to take different pictures and we all see color a bit differently, one might argue what the point is. No matter what @dalianjj does or doesn't do, someone's gonna complain about it.

I'm not going to pretend kinda-last-minute pre-release changes aren't a little annoying, but it's not worth knocking over my sippy cup and getting my helmet all out of whack over.

By the time you even did that we'd have another ten pages of argument over the fact that Jabber's gun the wrong color, so be prepared to fall into some Junji Ito-style hell if you try to embark on that never-ending mission to delete the silly.

Well, he looks good to me and I ain't canceling, screen accurate blue or not but his proportions seem off, I know they are toon accurate but they still seem off, like his arms are too long. I've seen the captions and know they are accurate but they still seem too long.

 

I wonder what Dalianjj is thinking when he sees all these blurple hate posts? I bet he's cracking the fuck up saying, I told you it's Blue!

 

With pre-ordered FT products I’m all prepared for paint chips, painful transformations, tight squeaky joints that are scary to move etc. The one thing even their worst release nails is the look! They were messing with the one thing I generally count on most from FT over everything else.

We’ve been looking at the S3 team photos for years and each release matches those photos. This one doesn’t, but happens to match paint exactly with the previous release and the next upcoming release (Spoiler and Soverign-M). Is this new blue better for jabber? No. Is it easier to reuse the same paint for 3 releases in a row? Yes. It's not terrible, and it's not as good as it could be! This is not me losing my mind, just a rational look at events. So everyone hopping into the thread with a "happy now?!" Please save it, nothing has changed from 20 pages ago except we have a clearer shot of the new darker blue.

I think whom ever released that first video owes the community an apology. Then they might want to assess the settings on their camera.

I also think, although some of our reactions have been quite tempered, the reaction from the fans shows that it is so important to stay true to what has been shown prior to release.

I feel like FT should really take note of this scenario for future reference to avoid upsetting paying customers.

I get it, all of it, I really do... and I generally try to see things with an objective outlook most of the time so as to empathise with other people's comments and ideas, but to make such a change without informing us, the fans, the buyers.... that's a serious mis-consideration, which they need to better pay attention to moving forward.

It works both ways. They give us some of the best representations of the characters we love - and our hard-earned money puts them in a position where they are able to do what they love, make the figures that they want... I genuinely believe that they are just as much fans of the show and history of Transformers as we are... They should be listening to us just as much as we should allow them their creative license.

Should we all have a say over every single aspect of the figures? Probably not. But something like this just goes to emphasise the passion we all share for this hobby when we expect one thing and get something that's not quite the same.

I do also think if this is reissued with the prototype colours in future there will be more (warranted) backlash - I think that would be even more of a bad move than changing the colour in the first place because for those of us who do feel aggrieved by this late change, will inevitably feel even more aggrieved by a later edition that we should of received in the first instance.

If people are going to push for a reissue down the line and FT give in to the "demand" then it will all be very self prophesied and people will claim they did it on purpose so they could "T" version it.

And for my two cents worth... metallic paint is not always best.

The only lesson is people should shut their mouth till there's pictures from multiple sources. People who don't like FT seem like a desperate sort nowadays, always telling others on what FT should do, yadda, yadda, yadda. We don't give a f***, till someone better comes along, we'll just keep buying.
