Not a statue guy, but I desperately want to see a Studio Series of this guy.

You nailed it I think, thats the feel I’ve gotten out of most of these cybertronian designs as well.

The proportions look wrong in a way that reminds me of a costume made of cardboard

To be fair, the Cybertronian scenes were last minute additions and they had a very limited amount of time to make these designs. While they’re boring to look at, the folks at ILM did a damn good job with the time that they had.

I was kindof referring to the bulkiness of it.

    So yeah.

Also, even they looked the same or whatever, it's not exactly enough to make them good.
Iron Man 2&3 and BayTurtles anyone?

its one of the topics where i think both sides are reasonable, its fine to be impressed with the designs with how little time they had but it's also fine to dislike how they feel last minute and use a lot of bits from the primary characters

On top of that. Upon closer observations, even the so-called "G1-inspired" designs still look like they've got some grey details exposed.
    So yeah.

I'm glad other people are beginning to understand this. Maybe it's because I work in realtime 3d graphics (as a video game rendering programmer) but it was obvious to me that the cybertron scenes were rushed and not as polished as the rest of the movie. I would have preferred the more hybrid Bay/cartoon look of the main cast than the final results in the Cybertron scenes (or the final Optimus scene, for that matter. That also looked rushed to me)

Completely agree. I hope that with this guy’s release that this Soundwave design gets more figures.

To me his head looks like he's wearing a helmet instead of it actually being his head. Also (IMHO) Ravage looks more like a dog instead of a Jaguar?

Well... If you actually look at most incarnations of of transformers they are clearly designed to look like they wear helmets and armor.

    As for Ravage...

I believe I read somewhere that the designer wanted to move away from the Jaguar look, a bit, because they figured that since he hasn't been to Earth yet it wouldn't make sense for him to look like a Jaguar.

To me they're still faces/heads and the "armour" more akin to skin, but that's just how I imagined it as a kid probably, but I can't break away from it. But up until this BB Soundwave these BB models didn't look like they wore a (cyber-doomguy-like) helmet.

As for Ravage.. Aha.. Makes sence.

I definitely understand the time limitations.. I Just wished they respected the silhouette.. this is branding 101 ... same problem that went down with sonic.. There's plenty of creativity to be had , and more so, when you subjugate yourself to the restrictions of the silhouette. As it stands he has very bulbous body parts, but they made sure the chest, crest, and reverse and forward buttons remained in tact lol.

in fact peeling off a few panels and shrinking that head would've gone along way and taken less time imo...
    for example:

    Yeah

Yeah, transformers are machines, the machines are real, there is alot of people who designs, build or fix machines as me, if you traslate or "project" (x||x') a machine to a cartoon world looks fine in a cartoon world. But if a cartoon machine teansport "project" again to a real world looks Unreal as garfield, chipmunks and Bumblebee, more if you are a kid and wants to link with a real machine (VW sedan), there is no more 80's cars in the streets. But its ok to be a VW 80s car, trying emulate a cartoon but they don't do that fine in the machatronics designs; the bbee bootss must be the front of the vehicle ,yes... I said mechatronics because they are machines.. no cartoons .deal. with that. I was born in 80s but I studied mechatronc engineering.
