No. One way to speak your disappointment is to not buy it. Another way is to come to a forum that the owner of FT is known to frequent and speak. I don't understand why people keep trying to tell us that saying something is wrong. You're content with how he looks? That's great. You'll get a figure you enjoy. You come in here and say as much and that's also good. It's good that FT hears from both camps. Telling people that they shouldn't be complaining - that's not so good. This doesn't need to be a battle. We can all just say what we think and let the chips fall where they may.

And I should point out, for the record, that I actually prefer the final colors that we've seen. I love me some metallic paint and I wish all my transformers had it (provided the design allows for it with minimal chipping and scratching). But that doesn't change the fact that it's not what we thought we were getting when we gave them our money. I've called it arrogant for FT to not show the final product before shipping and people have taken exception to that statement. Perhaps what I should have said is that it's irresponsible. Half of the complaints center around frustration with not knowing. Not being able to make an informed decision.

^Great, there goes my retirement plan. I was.gping to amass a huge cache of these toy/toon/movie repaints over the next 4-5 years, sell them at a monster profit, and quit my job after the windfall. I guess I'll have to go the conventional way and keep working until I'm 65. Thanks Fanstoys for squashing my dreams.

What we're doing is voicing a legitimate grievance over being promised one thing and getting another after paying over $100 for it. What you're doing is whining.

Spoke with Chosen Prime on FB. They expect their Jabbers to arrive today. Depending on shipping service, it might not ship out to us until tomorrow because of the holiday. USPS is closed and Fedex is in limited operation.

The final version never matches the prototype. We should all know this by now.

Should they should have sent preview copies out and/or shared final pics? Maybe - but nobody forced you to preorder it sight unseen. I don't understand why people do that. Unless you already know it's perfect and exactly what you want, why are you buying it? Wait for in-hand pics.

And no, I'm no FT appologist, I know they have messed stuff up before.

In general I would agree but in the case of FT, their figures tend to sell out very quickly. If you don't order early, you risk missing out entirely. Having said that, usually there is still time to order by the time the first photos and reviews start coming out. Usually but not always.

    So don't preorder.

Then if you like it after it releases, you'll have to be a big boy and wait a couple more weeks than everyone else to receive it. Blurr isn't that popular a character to sell out instantly.

I agree that both reactions are effective/reasonable. What I don't care for is the name calling and resentment exhibited between forum members who have different opinions.

The best approach may be to wait until forum members have their figure in-hand and put together a poll to accurately gauge the various views/opinions.

I'll also point out that there are a lot of posts complaining that production samples are no longer being sent to reviewers. The angst exhibited in this thread is a very good reason for Fans Toys to NOT share details on a figure that is a work-in-progress. If Fans Toys had never shared pre-production photos, there would be no complaints about a change to the color scheme. Perhaps Fans Toys needs to include the disclosure "pre-production sample, final figure may differ" on all the pre-production images they share as a reminder.

You've got it backwards there. What they needed to do is stay consistent and deliver what they advertized. Pre-production shots are what sell us on ordering the product in the first place, naturally so, and pre-orders are a necessary gauge for retailers to know how many units to order. For this little cottage industry pre-ordering is a necessary part of the operation, because it does not operate with a marketing budget the way 1P can and it often relies on retailer order pre-payments to help fund the production.

A necessary evil to some but overall a benefit to those who like to be able to lock something in ahead of time, particularly from a brand that was generally trusted to deliver what they showed.

Seeing full color images reassures us that it will look like the character it is homaging and match well with the other figures already on the shelf. The only reason this is an issue here at all is that they went with a very different hue and a different finish, after showing us precisely the right color and finish all along up until this point.

If I had to posit a guess as to what actually happened, I would bet that because Jabber's been a couple years in the making and was originally planned when they were doing the nice pastel style bright colors like we got on the first four '86 Movie Autobots, and the test shot was not updated to reflect the new darker and metallic trend they've been on with their paints in 2019.

Their original bright blue painting of the figure was also based on source material, and we all liked that, so dalianjj's recent posting of a screenshot where Blurr looks darker blue is not really why it's coming with blurple metallic paint, it seems more like an attempt to excuse the 2019 aesthetic change impacting Jabber.

Cool, we'll get on with voicing our legitimate irritation at this practise.

You're not an apologist, but you're apologising for them? Some of us order sight unseen because we live in countries that are allocated fewer copies of figures, so they often sell out prior to release (this is particularly true of FT). We're not psychic, so have no way of knowing which figures will sell out, or indeed whether FT will make some sort of weird last minute change for seemingly no reason.

It's not true to say that the proto pics never match the finished product. The final versions of of Koot, Rouge and Hoodlum look like the promo pics FT posted. So do a bunch of FT's other figures and figures from other manufacturers.

Guaranteed the theoretical test shot (not final product) would have had the blue color Dalianjj said they didn’t love... so they changed it based on internal response to a prototype

My understanding is the hasbro Unicron color isn’t fully settled because the test shot is made from different materials then what final production will be. Different material coat differently and change the hue of a color.

So I’m not sure why fanstoys should be held to a higher level then fanstoys when it comes to prototypes appearances slightly changing in the production phase due to materials or choices.

Not entirely sure what you're trying to say there, but pretty sure the rest of my previous post answers it (probably was added after you quoted it, so you missed it).

There was no reason for the colors to change from the testshot. The colors were great, basically everyone liked them, there was no pining for an alternate paint scheme because Blurr has no repaints (afaik) anyway and the colors matched the '86 movie source material and even somewhat the toy. There was zero expectation of a change because it didn't need one. This is more or less 2019 aesthetic changes at Fans Toys catching an innocent victim in the crossfire because he happened to be walking too slowly out of the factory. If he'd made it through faster, he'd likely still have his aesthetic matching his teammates. Remember how Jabber kept getting pushed back on the production roadmap to get stuff like combiner limbs out ahead of it. This is the sort of thing that can happen as a result. Unexpected, unwarranted, unwelcome changes to the figure's aesthetic and now he doesn't match his teammates aesthetic as well. C'est la vie.

Fanstoys shared pre-production photos and everybody was ok with what they were watching. If they took that as an indicator, they just had to release it close to it. Or change it to whatever colors they like and show some pics before releasing. KFC did that with their Blitzwing, changed colors, showed pics, I didn'like it and didn't buy, not much a problem. Now I'm trying to be consequent, so I've cancelled my preorder. Neither a big problem, but I feel kind of cheated, when it was easy not get to this point.

There are going to be so many people screaming when pringle-cron comes out and it's not EXACTLY like the proto - it's going to be such a shit show.
