I was very happy to support this when it was first posted. Yeah, it's system, but... It probably is the best bet we got. A lovely tribute it is.
Yeah, it’s a very lovely tribute. I hope I’m not the only one who believes Bionicle can work in LEGO System form, though. In fact, there have been minifigure-scale Bionicle sets between 2005 and 2007, but those sets had apparently failed. If Bionicle ever does System sets again, I’d like to see the minifigures as standard System minifigures. Regular minifigure legs for the Toa, mini legs for the Matoran, and semi-short legs (introduced in LEGO Harry Potter 2018) for the Turaga. What do you guys think of my Bionicle minifigure concept?
I’d still prefer mechanical mini figs ala the HF IFB line if Bionicle ever came back as system, personally. They could design maybe one or two more torso armour/limb designs and interchange them with existing ones for variety. I’d also love Minifig helmets in the style of classic Kanohi.
A nutty idea I've been slowly (attempting to) develope. Unlikely to go anywhere, but my work so far trying to figure out matoran body shapes, sizes, etc. Really want to incorporate system elements into these guys. Right now, these are more prototypes than anything, so colors certainly aren't final (not that is matters, considering these are unlikely to get all too far) And sorry for taking up so much space with photos that show so little.
I supported it, although I'm not sure if it will make it past Lego's review stage. They've already had to end this franchise twice now, and I'm guessing after that Lego isn't willing to invest any more into the world of Bionicle (at least for now anyway).
It’s a system based set, so there’s no reason why they wouldn’t. But either way, it needs to get to 10k to even have a chance. So once we get to that goal, then we can worry about whether it’s made. Hopefully the 10k underscores that people really still care about Bionicle. Plus as far as I understand, not many LEGO Ideas make it to 10k right? Honestly, it ended the second time because marketing was terrible and they didn’t really put as much thought into the story to engage audiences. People still love Bionicle - LEGO is the one that has always had this unspoken stigma against it which is sad. I will be very disappointed if this Ideas MOC isn’t approved by them into a set, but we gotta try! Gotta have hope! Plus the fact that it’s for the 20th anniversary is a great incentive
I've heard this thrown around a few times. Can someone give me an example that supports this? Because I don't see it. Are we talking about a lack of acknowledgement from Lego? Because honestly, Bionicle seems to be given the same treatment as other themes that have run their course. I don't hear anything about Exo Force, Chima, Nexo Knights, Agents, Adventurers, or any other dead theme. The most we get in terms of acknowledgment are the occasional referential stickers, which Bionicle has gotten a couple times.
I’ve tried for the last month to reacquire the pearl gold Mask of Life back from the titan Toa Mata Nui 8998 set, and all of my leads have fell through. All of them. I’m asking once again out earnestness, if anybody here is willing to part with it, I will trade anything I have on my sales page Megatron118 Sales Thread (Maketoys 3P, Movie, G1, Hot Toys, etc) for it. I’ll even do a combination of trading plus money if necessary, whatever necessary. I just really want that mask back. PM me if you wanna make a deal. Thank you.
Just thought I'd update people on the IDEAS project - It's passed the 9k mark, at the time of this post it's missing ~650 votes to reach the 10k. The Legend of the BIONICLE: Celebrating 20 years of Lego stories Also the creator posted a fun 3rd update - more minifigs!
Those. Look. Amazing!! Man, if LEGO brought Bionicle back as a brick based system like this with printed minifigures THIS detailed (they wouldn’t, but close enough would be nice), I’d fully on board. Wouldn’t be the same as before, but could be really promising in its own right. Also if anyone hasn’t supported the project yet, please do it so LEGO can hopefully bring it to life. No guarantees they’ll approve, but no indication they won’t either
Exactly 250 supporters left at the time of this post. I'm pretty sure it'll get 10k by the 31st, hell maybe even tomorrow.
