Thank you so much for the compliment. I try my best to provide good pics and honest reviews of these figures. I think I tend to be a bit objective AND subjective but I say how I feel about these figures. I can’t help it, I just love Transformers! Now how about some more?!

It’s a Mirage in the middle of the desert!!!

Adjust your eyes and splash some water in your face. This Mirage is for real, and he’s a welcome oasis. You want a G1 accurate Mirage, this’ll be as good as it gets from Hasbro I think, and it’s perfectly fine.


Siege Mirage is so much better in hand than the pics and renders made him out to be. The legs are what worried me the most in the renders, but honestly they work and look so much better than I hoped. How else could he pose like a boss?

And you know what else?

This is really, very ok.


Admittedly, the transformation can be a bit fiddly at first, getting everything lined up properly to tab together. Once you get used to it, it’s a lot of fun and seems very fitting for this figure. And another thing.....

This ain’t so bad either. Yes the rear of the vehicle turns into the chest instead of the front section as is traditional for Mirage. But honestly, I’m not sure the robot mode would be so great without this setup. It feels like an even trade. Also, I just think of the rear section as a specialized bumper/airfoil for his F1 mode. Think of the extra Autobot symbol as company branding like classic F1 racers. It lets the Decepticons know exactly who they’re chasing.

Extra tip: wait to tab the arms and tail fins together after you’ve got the chest attached to the front of the car. It makes it easier to see to line up the blue tabs into the chest portions and helps everything hold together better. Also I read from a user on Twitter that if you sand/file those tabs down a bit, it would cut down on the squeaky tightness of those translucent tabs and avoid breakage. I tried it and it does seem to help, just wanted to share.


Siege Mirage is another figure that I’m glad won the fan vote. As someone who owns the Classics version as well, this Mirage is the closest to the character we’re gonna get in a mainline figure. His blue is sparkling, his Bot symbols are big and bright, he’s actually much sleeker looking in person. I wouldn’t count Mirage out, looks can be deceiving.  

 

Thanks for the pic. It's put some of my concerns about Siege Astrotrain's height to rest. Was TR / Legends Astrotrain just really tall? Because the Seibertron images comparing the two Astrotrains really made it seem like the new Siege figure wasn't going to cut it. He sizes up well enough with TR Blitzwing for my tastes with the boots on...although I will probably still explore 3P upgrade kits.

Speaking of which I finally got the Ratchet Studios gap fillers for Ironhide painted up and tried my hand at applying Reprolabels for the first time with mixed results. But was able to trim down the hip extenders on Ironhide so the leg panels can still tab in securely...so that was a win after getting a bubble in the windshield sticker and not quite matching the paint. Ah well I love it. Ironhide can now display his forearms with pride!

And that's why I'm asking   to get honest input as I'm divided myself, I can reverse right now but next step would be gluing and filling in the gaps, painting to make it look cohesive and then it's permanent.

yeah can’t say I’m a fan either. Dimensions of the head look too small with the rest of the body IMHO

 

There's an upgrade kit somewhere to add the antennae to the mask that comes with him, but I'm not sure how much it costs. That's probly your best bet for a more G1 toy-esque look.

Head's pretty much the same size but yes, is a little smaller. Transformation looks like it could be an issue though, may require trimming of the head cannons.

Yeah, I was hoping that kit would be more G1 style but it just doesn't work for me.

Ah well, back to the drawing board!

Original plan still seems best, try to mod his mask to allow me to attach the G1 head. Make it removable. Then transformation wouldn't be a concern.

That's one of the few Characters that's not a Seeker that should be a definite next year.

 

I was thinking out loud with regards to re-packs. As mentioned in the newly released thread, it seems that we will get 2 type of boxes for astro train. One with the siege box (wave partner is magnus as above photo) another with the earthrise box.

I personally would wait for the earthrise, as here the sellers would price packaged purchases alot cheaper compared to when purchased individually. Also earthrise package will come with the cybertronian map piece and his wave partner is prime with trailer which I am looking forward to.

For the longest time, Universe Iron-hide was the stand-in for the classics line. Sadly, he hasn't aged well. Siege Iron-hide will now fulfill the classics role now.
