    Lol

I'm glad that chug crap isn't made anymore, especially as HasTak are taking care of those wasting their money on it.

Giant doesn't hold a candle to Constructor.

    Opinions are like arse holes.....

That said the problem isn't oversaturation of MP. It's over saturation of specific characters. There's a difference. We don't need 7 Springers, 6 Optimus Primes or 3 Arcees. We need Battle chargers, Targetmasters, Headmasters. Maketoys were going in the right direction but took the 'easy' route of trying to milk a mould and fucked it up.

I think part of the problem is they don't necessarily know what the other is doing. And it doesn't help that no matter what anyone does, FT teases their intent of doing the same character without fail. If they quit stepping on each others' toes, they could probably all be successful, but being they're competition to one another, they're probably opposed to getting too chummy with each other and sharing all their plans.

Hey Yes Models, just keep doing knockoffs of Maketoys stuff. An oversized Green Giant would be tight.

Who is to say Maketoys aren't involved. Would be an easy way to claw back a bit more cash after all.

This highlights a lot of Maketoys problems. They never moved forward with conviction. They never went all in with MP and had all these other lines. They never followed through with conviction on getting out their Seekers and Megs when it would have mattered. They tried to go these different routes with reusable molds. Their prices were high but they stunted their HM/TM by not following through and delaying. Fansproject did the same thing and look at where they are now. They stuggled through the era when everyone did a Devy, a Predaking, and a Computron. I bought their $200 Omega Supreme add-on for around $30. I loved the look of Utopia and Pandinus but I cannot think those were big winners. Cross Dimension had no appeal to me. CHUG had its time and had no appeal to me. You add all of these things up and you get where we are.

It is suspicious MT seems to be the only 3P to get prevalent high quality KOs... Are there even noticeable differences between the so called KOs? Could it be MT just slashes the price on overstock and/or do another run and they're advertised as KOs so the initial buyers don't get butthurt and/or everybody just wait for them to be clearanced?

Imo, 3P collectors largely want MP style figures (or legends size, recently). People say they want the classics stuff, but the market for that is going to be very small - especially since, and both FP and MT have been through this - Hasbro and Takara have basically made new versions of all of the figures that were on 3P wishlists 8-9 years ago.

I don’t think it was likely for any of these companies to have an especially long lifespan, given that they’re all just some court paperwork away from oblivion, but the oldest ones are largely gone.

MT is still trying to clear out stock on their website from their “half decade deals” of some of the very first figures they released. I think they’re done, but like FP, they won’t admit it.

Not to add fuel to the fire but TFSExpress have a few Maketoys items for pre-order at a heavy discount.

    MakeToys - TFs Express

This isn’t stock they have, it’s discounted stock they’re buying in. This says to me a possible jettison of stock at the source...

I still think Maketoys could make some quick cash cheaply by reissuing Downbeat with a Takara-style “plus” treatment. Fully painted in cartoon accurate colours with blue windows/headlights, and get rid of the ugly red splotch on his chest...I’d buy it instantly even though I have the original.

in general line with cancel culture: no proofs needed, so let's circlejerk our speculation into reality.

Which could be MT building capital to fund the next production run. It doesn't really tell us much.

As neat as I think Cross Dimension is(and I want that Galvatron especially), I just have no room for most of it in terms of budget or physical space. It seems to me their biggest hits have been the seekers and Downbeat. Their earlier MP efforts kept getting showed up by other companies. They jumped the gun too early on 87 HM/TM guys, which was in theory a smart idea for the same reason it blew up in their face; no one else was doing it. Hellfire/Wrestle were peak examples of too many companies doing the same character. Gundog and the Visualizers were both cool(and toy Gundog is my Hound of choice), they were similarly overshadowed by Fanstoys. Their biggest misstep was Re:Master Despotron,a cool figure which just didn't fit in any existing aesthetics perfectly and came out right before MP-36 really made a definitive design turn in MP style.

But then Downbeat came out and just matched the modern MP style like a glove. Same with the Seeker mold, despite some nitpicks I have with it. I feel like they've shown themselves to be the most capable as far as being able to makeMP figures that match official releases with those two. Even more with Fanstoys up until the reveals of their new Soundwave, seaspray, and the other minibots. But its been some time since Meteor and we've yet to see them attempt more MPs like that.

I think the way the MP scene is going, back to retouching older S1-3characters instead of moving onto 87 and beyond, they have their shot at getting back by doing some MPs of S1/2 characters where existing MPs, 3P or official, could use an update or become harder to find. I think they could pull off a good Perceptor, Gears, or an Insecticons set. I'd also like to see them tackle Runamuck and runabout, which I'm surprised hasn't been done yet as far as I know. And while its a huge risk, I think they could do a great cartoon inspired Devastator that I feel Constructor doesn't quite hit.

MakeToys better not be done because I still need me a pile of Cross Dimension figures. Don't care at all about hyper cartoon accurate MP stuff.

Tailgate is still one of my favorite figures to this day.

Love the feel of Swerve's plastic. Simple transformation but nice, especially after you loosen the screws on his under arm a little bit.

Want the TFCon2019 Broken Mirror Grouch. So if someone has it and is willing to sell it, PM me your price.
