It’s kind of a shame it’s with Overheat. Didn’t know it was with the G2 one as well. Gives me hope it’ll be included with the Toy version, since I’m gonna buy that.

 

Finally shaved down the pegs on the window and transformed him for the second time in months. Works so much better. Sometimes XTB over do it a bit. Still hope I can get a new face for him with that Toy Overheat, I don’t feel like getting the normal one.

 

I need to get this guy and Neptune, should have been thinking and ordered Neptune while they were in the $55 range. Oh well, I will have them eventually, maybe the next run of Savant they will put in the better face and maybe trim down the window tabs a bit.

 

I think I'm in the minority, but the cat eye headlights don't really bug me... Yet... I kind of like it like that

 

Yeah. At least they're transparent plastic like real headlights and not opaque or silver/chrome like Takara and 3P versions of G1 Prime, Takara MP Inferno, etc.

 

I've always wanted to mod the headlights. Pull them out, cut off the pegs, fill in the pegholes and cover them with reflective foil, polish the headlights to be smooth and clear, and then glue them back on. But I'm a coward and worried I'll do irreparable damage so I haven't done it yet. But yeah, nice headlights along with the KFC Ratchet hands, the replacement face from Overheat, and my Charlene minifigure - I'd have the perfect Skids.

 

I'm still hoping for a toy-oriented deco, with the new face on it, and the toy head.
But the headlights will be a mandatory modification the minute it comes in.
There have been lots of those in this thread, with the one by #GRAW being my favorite.

 

That does look nice... Great mod.. I may get inspired to do that at some point.

 

How did @GRAW modify the lights?

 

Looks like he popped them out, filed down the peg on back and painted the back silver/gold/yellow, then painted the outer frame of the lens black, hopefully clear coated, and glued in place. Not difficult, just busywork... It looks great.

 

New head, better face and the proper hood.

No, that would be too much trouble to spray the entire hood and matching color.

 

For now, I like the cat eye headlights. But if they start to bother me, I'll do the custom

 

Anyone still needing that Skids head, make me an offer, just got the G2 Overheat and already used the one that came with G1 Overheat on my Skids.

 

I hope the face comes with the toy version of Overheat, it’s the only one I’d consider picking up. I’m a big fan of Skids and really grateful to XTB for doing such a great job on him.

 

It appears to ship with any version of Overheat, so far.
