Is he good? I've heard that series is pretty good and fun but I'm not much into crossovers like that so I skipped it.

 

Dude, trust me his writing is amazing in that series, also kinda ironic how with transformers, we went from a political drama...... To an even more boring political drama. I don't understand why these can't have fun like transformers ghostbusters

 

I really wouldn't call it much of a political drama, I would have loved that of ot was. NuTF seems to be trying to be more like a detective noire story but with some political elements (cause, really now. How are you supposed to tell a story about a planet falling into civil war for millions of years without including politics?) and old TF is pretty much the same deal except instead of noire it did varies genre mixings.

 

But the most recent idw transformers seems bent on being needlessly dark and edgy and boring

 

"Edgy" like a 14 year old back in the early 2000's fanfiction.

 

Eh, I don't find it even remotely dark or edgy. It's just boring.

How about a series that just picks up from the end of season 2 of the Sunbow show? Just kind of recap the important plot points of the first two seasons, jettison the ridiculous stuff, make it a bit more adult, and set on a trajectory towards the 86 movie. Have a huge event where you retell the movie but maybe with a few twists and added scenes but ultimately the same goal. Then forge a completely new path and give us “new” season 3.
Kind of what Dreamwave was doing but with actual good writing.

Also bring back Don Fig, Alex Milne, and Andrew Griffith.

 

Because when you're planning for the future, going backwards 30 years to a cartoon that made zero sense anyway probably isn't a good place to begin.

 

I couldn't tell if you were talking about the comic or the terrible new "MP" Bee.

Somebody please let Hasbro know this. God, I would LOVE to see TFs movie beyond 1984, which is why I loved the previous IDW comics. This new stuff, HUGE step back from that.

You obviously didn’t even read my entire post. And IDW is in the business of making money not necessarily planning for the future. The most profitable transformers comics of the past 20 years have been the Dreamwave books-love em or hate em-and they were as close to sunbow as anything we’ve seen since.
