    They are what they are, my son (age 11, autistic), is well into Yu-Gi-Oh and they are along the same lines,
    the people at the club he plays at (age 15-30, 90% autistic), love them, and due to spending so much time there with him there I have picked up a big lot second hand for 60 quid and hope not to have to buy too many more (I got most of the combiners and enough characters, just need a few important effect cards now by the look of online lists).
    So they seem to appeal to less die-hard fans, as I am I think the only TF collector there but they have enough players to do whole match days at it and block it out for the new releases (happens for Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic and even X-Wing too).
    At TFN the most players I saw at the TCG tables at any one time was 4, it was usually just 2.

    Just when you thought you knew all levels of geekery, there is always one more.....

    Remembered my 'make-a scene' fuzzy-felt-ish G1 TF thing earlier to Mr Forest as a possible victim of the next clearance (with the jigsaws), I cant even find a picture of it online now, stranger things....

    Continuing someone else's 'I forgot I had',
    found this fella the other day, only picked him up a few months ago and I am not even sure he is complete,
    but was this an attempt at white-angel-Crow-Wheeljack maybe?

    And to you, bonny lad.

    Right. Loved El Camino. Not big. Not showy. Tense, yet reflective. And an emotionally satisfying send off for the character.

    Oh, it's certainly not an active effort, absolutely. It's counterproductive to multinationals to try and shut out groups of consumers, hence why so many companies are getting into Pride Month branding efforts these past couple of years, to the point of it becoming a bit tiresome to a lot of people.

    I agree that the fun, and indeed the intended play pattern, is to mix and match. It's my favourite thing to do! But discouragement comes when you're told that no, there's a 'canon' version of a combiner, and it supersedes all other versions. Sure you could put First Aid, Dead End and Rook onto Onslaught, but wouldn't you rather go out and buy the full set of Combaticons? Only £17.99 each! I think there's competing desires within Hasbro - fixed sets encourage people to buy more, but creative mix-and-match styles encourage them to enjoy their brand more and are less likely to get burned out on it. The two ideas are at odds with each other, and it's why I loved POTP most out of all the Prime Wars lines. There's the fixed teams of Terrorcons and Dinobots, and free agents that can go with whoever like Moonracer, Jazz and Dreadwind. Having a mix of both is good, but then going back and retroactively sorting everyone into neat, constrictive teams is not so good.

    Play patterns being restrictive is a Bad Thing. I have serious thoughts about this, but I don't really feel like going into a rant right now. It involves Mousetrap and Lego, but it's a story for another time.

    'They'. Fits well with a combiner as well!

    Cheers mate, glad you're doing better too. I'll experiment with the settings, or perhaps just add a third light to the scene. That one was done with two LEDs, one on either side, so a third one wouldn't hurt. His right arm is leaning against the wall, but it's lost in darkness there.

    The Girls playing with Jazz and Wreck Gar seems kinda pervy to me. But King Neptune was 1/5th Girl in the 1990's so it's nothing new really.

    If it doesn't bother you then use the mixed teams (just like Power Ranger really) or if it does bother you or you think that the Gestalt might be less functional with a mixed Gender combination then just send Jazz & Wreck Gar over to play with Inferno.

    I don't think Kids would think about a mixed gender combination in the way a politicially sensitive adult might - anymore than they likely pay a blind bit of notice that Power Rangers combinations are usually part female in attributes. I'm also guilty of doing something similar when It crosses my mind from time to time if Springer or Impactor are Immoral actors.

    There is some interesting questions here though - perhaps not the ones one might think of right away - like In Japan for example the Seacons were no more than Drone Animals being worn like a power up suit by "Turtler" (Snaptrap) so that wasn't a gestalt mind really at all - perhaps Elita is dominating the combination here too reducing Jazz and Wreck-Gar to a pair of boots.

    There is a suggestion Most Optimus Prime combining with someone combination do that too - essentially putting the secondary components into a subordinate passive state. If you think Elita is doing that then that begs some very odd questions - like is she doing it to the Girls too or just the lads ? If she is then is she only a fully functional gestalt by having that all girl team ?
    If the core body is simply wearing the arms and legs as a suit and isn't entering into a mental combination too then that does automatically make hot-swapping and mix-and-match very straight forward.

    I always saw it as likely that any of "Team Optimus" would be able to combine with him - even if they are marketed with Sky Lynx. CW Combiners might be more of a Physical Union than a Mental one.

    Omega incoming and a fine biopsy! Today is a day for good news. Enjoy the bed rest dude you've earned it!

    Hound definitely stalks people on facebook doesn't he?

    Great shot as usual dude.

    To be fair, Ultra Prime, Elita Infinite, Betatron, Modulus and co are all Canon, even if they don't have the same spotlight, but I get where you are coming from.

    Realized we've actually overlooked where Mixed gender combiners have happened - Ultra Bee and Galvatronus from RID - they where a mixed gender combiners. Just we've not really seen that migrate to the Generations line yet.

    @doucoo,
    Glad the biopsy went well and that you've been able to get some rest.

    That scene with Megatron has stayed in my memory as aside from the cool factor of Megatron being able to take all that firepower I think it's a more believable depiction of how humanity would fare against aliens. In fiction it's easy to make scenarios where humans would win, but if anything has the tech to get from their point of origin to here, it's likely they could take us out without us being able to do much about it, other than hoping they land in the UK and are so put off by the political climate they decide to abandon invasion plans :D

    @MyTea Boc,
    The headline will be something along the lines of "Chaos erupts as irate fan invades pitch brandishing ferrets" :D

    @Imperator,
    I think the lighting in the pic works very nicely!

    Also going back to the comic, I think it'd be fun if Marvel and Transformers did another crossover...I'd like to see Deadpool interact with them and say something like "Wow, you're not just kids toys" :D

    @barry,
    I haven't read many of the old comics since I was a kid but some things have just stayed in my memory, I always liked that pic of Sparkplug trapped in Starscream's cockpit as well as the Megatron scene.

    Great pic of Hound. I think the Universe/Henkei one had a good run at the top but the Siege one has raised the bar.

    Well, as a legit collective, whether single gender or mixed, surely 'They' is the perfect pronoun for any combined combiner. Also personally I am all for Combiners referring to themselves in the third person Grimlock & the Dinobots-Stylee but with better grammar construction.
    Great News, Doug! Enjoy that bed rest!!!

    Cheers both! Yer Siege Hound is a photogenic bastard.

    I agree wholeheartedly. As Siege gives us updates, I've been getting rid of my older CHUG figures, but I haven't been able to get rid of Henkei Hound. That face! Too good!

    They works. I just ask as combiners are usually treated as their own singular entities, with their own personalities, so wasn't sure if we would still apply a singular pronoun to them as is the norm, or if we take them as a group collective.

    5 years later this one still doesn't scale much with anything on my LL shelf but Rung damnit he's still a incredibly flamboyant bastard.

    I wasn't the biggest fan of him to begin with but he then grew on me.

    Just as he did start to grow, my 2nd son (when he was 3 years old) got a hold of him and lost the Headmaster. Never did find it so I'm stuck with a headless body. :(

    Forgot to post this on the day - the last thing I did for Lost Light Fest before I decided I couldn’t be arsed anymore - Cyclonus with his ghosts from the new IDW series. I drew the previous version of him because I can’t stand the CW version.
