In my valley city, it's 9% tax, so my total was $626.74... and you better believe that they rounded up to get that additional penny.

All of the neighboring cities in my area (Tracy, Lodi, Modesto, Lathrop) have lower sales tax.

I left Seattle a little over a year and a half ago and settled in Las Vegas. I was shocked at how much less expensive it was. And not just for housing, but across the board. Since my job is all remote programming work, I can pretty much live anywhere. I'm now just sorry I didn't relocate earlier as I've been able to save a ton of money since my cost of living went down while my rates stayed the same.

Enough to support my wife backing Unicron [inserted for thread relevance] as well as pick up several G1 figures I've wanted for some time now.

Pretty sure that is a coding error - since as someone pointed out earlier in the tread if you inspect the progress bar HTML it says 140.8%, which seems more reasonable (and is probably not coincidentally half the displayed 281%). That would put it at a still respectable 11264 units.

How did we get on real estate talk? I went back 4 pages in the thread and have been popping in and out. I live in Denver, just put down luxury vinyl plank flooring in my house and finished the kitchen with Ikea this past summer. Thank God all the house projects are done for the year. I think secretly, my wife allows me to get Unicron so she could go hog wild on rugs, couches, and new light fixtures.

Have they? There have been some recent Beast War Masterpiece figures in the several hundred dollars. So I wouldn’t say Unicron is the first. The biggest, sure. But, with its size, part count, and engineering I really do feel it’s worth the price. I can’t wait to have him in hand.

Hasbro marketing and business intelligence department is really confused right now.

“Well, they were happy. And then they got really mad. Then they had an intellectual property law debate. Then they were sad. Then furious. And then they were happy again.”

    “What are they doing now?”

“Ummm... they’re taking about nationwide real estate price trends.”

    “Weird.”

I think all of those are more than feasible, except for the edible Lithone.

I think Lithone would be cool, no doubt, but it would also add significant mass to the packaged product and Hasbro might be working within some strict parameters to add bonuses but not add too much extra mass.

Of course, breezing past the 8,000 unit minimum threshold and making this whole project exponentially more profitable could impact those parameters slightly in or favour.

Also, I realise now, looking at the screenshots you posted, Unicron's eye laser was purple, not green, as I had posted earlier. My bad.

I know we only saw Unicron fire one eye laser in the movie after one of his eyes was shattered, but a pair of matching laser effects would be much cooler than just one.

Who is to say Unicron wasn't able to fire beams from both eyes when they were functional?

I don’t know if that’s so historically accurate. The original Autobot cars were around $10, that’s at least $24 in today’s money. Plus, an entire combiner team would run you maybe $60. Around $143 today. What about Fortress Maximus? $100 in the 80’s. So
$238 today? When was Transformers ever accessible to everyone? It was an expensive hobby back in the 1980’s, and it’s an expensive hobby today. Don’t blame inflation, and the devaluation of American currency on the problem, or Hasbro for raising their prices. They can either make cheap toys no one wants, or slightly more expensive ones more people will buy. Unicron May have priced some collectors out. But, my parents couldn’t afford Fortress Maximus for me as a kid. It wasn’t made for everyone? Was it?

Eh I chalk that up to just about all of us generally being adults-ish. It reminds me of a time a few years back when some of my college friends and I were at the beach together and one, who worked a men's clothing store, started talking about the benefits of styling in a double-breasted suit vs a single row of buttons. I looked around and like 5 of us were just enraptured by what he was saying. It was at that moment when I realized all of us had grown up a little.

Now excuse me while I go make "pew pew" noises with my Siege Starscream....

A prized extra would be a voice/sound effect box that could reproduce that awful Foley work in the first scene, where the "teeth" and crushing mechanisms make this comical "chomp" sound.

Is that really what you'd want? A stress ball? So you can make Unicron into a stress-eater?

    "Stressed" spelled backwards is "desserts."

I completely agree. I posted something similar here hundreds of pages ago. My family surely couldn’t afford to get me all the TF toys released in the mid-80’s. They were pricy compared to other toys. I always wanted Omega Surpreme, but he also had a supreme price tag. The big Star Wars sets and vehicles were really expensive too. Now we fast forward 35 years...I think the TF toys we have today are largely superior to the original G1 toys in terms of complexity and detail. Yes, they may be a bit smaller and all plastic. I’m having more fun with Siege than I remember having with the limited number of G1 toys. I can’t decry Hasbro for upping prices. As long as the sales targets are being hit they will keep inching higher and higher.

As a collector, I wasn’t in a position to get Fort Max a few years ago. I think it was reasonably priced for what it was. Life simply got in the way. Today, I’m fortunate to be in a position to have paid for Unicron and have purchased almost the entire line of Siege. Much of the funds used for Siege came from me not seeing enough value in MP-44 to justify the massive price increase over MP-10. That is my perception. I think Hasbro has done a consistently decent job delivering value for our hard earned dollars. WFC and Siege saw a rescaling of characters. They’re all smaller. I don’t really mind because I believe (personal opinion) that the current quality is higher than it was with TR or POTP.

Of course I wish toys were less expensive. I’m sure we all wish everything was less expensive. Transformers range from $5 up to $159. In there is something for everyone.
