I was never quite happy w/ the Combiner Wars Motormaster we got: flimsy torso mode (at least mine was), no cab feet, and just a cab for vehicle mode vs a full truck. I saw a 3rd party try to tackle it but felt it was out of my budget. Decided to mod my POTP Inferno into Motormaster just to see how it would turn out. Made a cast of CW Motormaster's head trimmed it down to fit in his chest. Tried to paint him but still have a few areas of paint rub. oh well. I knew for vehicle mode he wouldn't really evoke the semi-truck look, and I thought about adding a faux cab to his feet, but then I saw Don Figueroa's design for War Within Motormaster and found I liked the feet as-is. In this mode I leave the ladder folded and make-believe it's a spiked beam-weapon or something. For the Menasor head I used my Combiner Wars Menasor head and modded it w/ some sculpt and various parts. I like how bulky he looks now! Enjoy!
Alt mode is what it is. I think the bot mode works for sure! That being said, the alt mode looks great! Nice job!!
If you had some styrene sheeting, maybe you could kitbash a super simple square-ass cab front and trailer for the alt mode. Robot Mode is badass, though. Good work!
Very much a fan of what you did here. I never thought HotSpot/Inferno would make a good Motormaster and Menasor torso. Good job.
Looks great! Hotspot was one of the better combiner torso, at least in my experience. Wish that 3rd party remedy had come through, but it is my understanding it never came to fruition . Correct me if I'm wrong. Got any reference art for the War Within design? I remember them being really good, but can't find my source book.
That works surprisingly well. Similar to what JomasterII said, make some sides and have them fold up DX9 Carry style to hide the ladder. Or you just call it Fire Motormaster. Great work! It turned out awesome!
I played around with Menasor's shoulders a bit more and mis-transformed them. They don't lock in now but they do make his shoulders appear beefer.
I was actually kicking this idea around a few days ago and I am glad that someone did it to see how it would turn out. Are you planning on adding Blackjack to the combined form or will you leave it as is?
I hadn't planned on adding Blackjack, and in fact just held him up to Menasor. Doesn't quite look right (the shade of black is a little off--- Blackjack is actually a dark brown jack) Still, if someone wanted to do it, I think it _could_ be done... from the looks of it it would require 2 L-shaped posts to stick into the ladder and Blackjack. Glad you enjoyed this! It is awesome having a beefy Menasor who is (IMHO) better proportioned than what we originally got.
Really like the resemblance to War Within Motormaster. I know it wouldn't combine but I'd love to see you do the same with the oversized ko of CW Hot Spot. Great idea and a great custom to match.
I've been considering doing that and using the upgrade kit from TDW to improve it but it'd be a pain in the ass to make transformable, since it would be a lot of scratch built panel folding.
