I've been racking my brain on what the colorscheme could be, with the flag hinting at it being white/red/yellow (like how the other releases had the colors teased as well). And then I remembered that this guy exists:

not making sense to you, maybe. well, when you like or not like something, it usually connect to your real world experience. i know it can't be 100% logical when you deal with cartoon characters. but it's always a line somewhere. it all depends where each of us draw it. btw that shuttle does look bad. but that purple windows could make sense in real world. that could reflect the short wavelength em radiation.

 

Yeah. I think the lack of blue in the logo (assuming that the logo is an indicator of the color scheme) kills that prospect. Would be pretty sweet though! Some people have been assuming it's a China flag redeco. I'm holding out for a Burning Guts or a IDW Sentinel Prime color scheme.

If you are not familiar, this is an homage to the orginal Doubledealer toy since the altmodes are similar and I happen to like the colors on him even though colors of TFs of his era wouldn't make sense in the real world:

He's a Predator, part of the Euro-only "G1.5" line. They had eyeball-wrecking decos later explained in IDW comics as camouflage for a weird planetary environment:


All of them had this weird gimmick of having this built-in scope/targeting system and launching/dropping bomb mechanisms. A good gimmick concept with odd execution. The two bigger figures ended up redecoed and released as Machine Wars transformers Starscream and Soundwave.

 

Never seen those, they look really cool. but i gotta say that with time they got quite funky with the designs

 

They're somewhat obscure because they were never released in the US.

 

At the time, I think Hasbro/Takara was really playing with the idea of articulation, but they just weren't quite there yet. As a result, the overall toys have this kind of quasi-chunky, goony design that were kinda bricks, with super limited articulation except along transformation joints but with clear, discernible sculpted limbs and whatnot instead of the junky-clunky legs and arms you'd usually see in the more well known G1 bots. I dunno if you were around/aware or not, but it seems that the colors were sadly indicative of the time period, as many boys toys at that time frame featured that gaudy day-glo color scheme in an effort to be "X-TREEEME to the MAX". It was obnoxious.

 

I'm based in Europe but, well, i wasn't even born then  . But yeah, i see your point about the flashy colors choosen for their appeal on kids, and goddamn they went for it, both with these and most of g2 bots I've seen. But i gotta say the more i see the more they grow on me

 

Thee's a definite appeal to toys that look like they were dipped in radioactive vomit. If anything, they're silly fun. So I don't mind if Nuke ST Commander looks like he just escaped a rave. I'm always on the hunt for a good Omega Spreem stand in anyway:

 

 

Absolutely beautiful! Exactly what I want. And a perfect example of why I no longer support Hasbro. FUCK HASBRO!!! Yeah, I know, this is just a fan digibash but it's also a plan to follow to customize this thing into Doubledealer. There are some characters you just have to make yourself. Even if Hasbro does make a leader class Doubledealer it will be a tiny dinky thing like the Siege leaders. A total rip-off like their Astrotrain.

I'm glad I didn't get the original version of this. I definitely want this one. This is going to be Doubledealer. I don't care what the actual release looks like.

 

yeah. Reason I'm thinking "maybe?" is that Jungle Commander had blue too. Wonder when we'll find out for certain.
