Documentaries, that's what you're going with, nah I'm sorry I just dont see He-Man having the world wide appeal, let alone a bigger NA appeal. You can't call the TF movies a fail when they moved all that ugly TF movie product, I for one hate the Bay TFs but they didnt fail. You want to talk failure, why did Mattel cancel the 2k He-man line and CN cancel the show, the fandom didnt support, there's already huge complaints amd movie complications on MOTU so let's not even go there. Name a non successful TF cartoon? Heck who is the MOTU backer in Asia you know the equivalent of Takara or Disney? Again I love He-Man but collector wise I'd say it's easily
    1. SW
    2. TF
    3. TMNT
    4. PR
And those 3 have had not real break since the 1980(90s for PR)s unlike He-man

I'd have to go with redrum on this. Comparing a handful of documentaries (and I've seen most of them) to a handful of blockbusters that have cumulatively grossed over $4 billion...

And as redrum said, a subscription MOTU Classics line that Mattel was reluctant to put on store shelves and that ToyGuru had to fight to get funds for vs. a TF toy line that over the years has helped turn Hasbro into a multi-billion dollar company...the last movie was Bumblebee, which was well received critically and commercially.

I'm not saying one line is "better" than the other--I'm a fan of both. But the TF franchise has been more commercially successful and mainstream than MOTU. Maybe that'll change with the upcoming movie and Netflix series. But for the moment, no. Not even close.

Threads get weird to read when you put someone on your ignore list, but everyone else keeps quoting and replying to that person.

Yeah I think it's safe to say aside from shelf warmers and things like convention exclusives, pretty much every figure has sold far more than 22,000 worldwide.

Fans make documentaries when their franchise is in the toilet and they have nothing else to talk about.

So with 7 minutes till the deadline I placed my order. I only collect G1 Masterpiece, so Unicron will probably be in planet mode for me. Here's to hoping we get a few upgrade kits to clean up the robot mode.

Is Bandai worldwide or do they have something like Hasbro and Takara? Since Bandai sold PR to Hasbro I can't imagine PR and/or Sentai being larger than TF if Bandai also handled business worldwide.

Even the shelfwarmers still sold in Hasbro's eyes, since it's the retailers that are holding onto that stock, not them.

MOTU is no where near TF in fandom or profitability.

Transformers has had near continuous cartoons, near continuous comics, 6 big budget holly wood movies (not that they were good except maybe bee), a trading card game, video games, mobile games and multiple websites with much much higher user accounts. Cars with decals driving around and apparel in mainstream stores.

MOTU has had a cartoon, a failed cartoon, now 2 netflix cartoons. 1 craptacular movie. 2 successful toylines and 3 failed ones.

If the fandom was even close the franchise would be supported much more than it is.

Bandai is a toy maker they didn't own PR. Saban owned PR and sold it to Hasbro.

Alright that’s enough dudes. The back and forth needs to be dropped. You know who you are. I suggest you take it to PMs if you feel the conversation needs to continue. Thanks!
