I’m really hoping they give, idk, monthly updates. They’ve got to keep the hype alive to help this next year not feel like an eternity.

If they were going to code the damn thing at the end to keep adding artificial orders......... they'd not of had it say 8000+... that completely goes against that conspiracy theory so while i give a 10 to originality.... I give a 0 for logic.

Anybody know the details of the "digital comics" freebies? One comic....two comic....three comic....four? (Also, here's to hoping that they would/could still add MORE extras....)

Check the yearly revenue listings on ICV2. You'll be surprised how much people are willing to spend on little paper pieces. ;)
Cool thanks! I did not know that. Interesting that Takara still has these molds.

But Armada Unicron is tiny now. CW gestalts or WFC Jetfire are his size, Devastator and Predaking tower over him. Scale or not I long wanted and expected a Titan sized Unicron.

So good to see us get in the last few conspiracy theory posts before this thing deducts from everyone's pay pal account.

First of all, let's start at the end of your post. $25 deluxes and $35 voyagers are coming. Probably in 2022 with the post-WFC3 line. Across all their main action figures lines Hasbro has a "20 '$20 Deluxe' Price point". Lightning collection. Marvel legends. Star Wars Black. Transformers Generations deluxe. They are all pretty much the same. Non-Hasbro toy makers have the same $20 price point too. Hasbro is experimenting this year with a $25 "premium deco" for select Star Wars Black 6" figures. Expect that to be the baseline for all 'Deluxe' toys before too long. And that's pretty much fair.

Secondly, collector markets are generally very healthy. They are healthy enough that in the past decade companies have sprung up entirely dedicated to narrow collector markets. And they're doing well enough that they keep getting more obscure and releasing more collector-oriented toys.

We live in a world where $45 action figures based on the 1980s Masters of the Universe film exist.
We live in a world where NECA has not only release over a 100 Aliens figures, but even release new versions of figures based on the designs from the 1990s Kenner toy line and the aborted animated series.
We live in a world where $400 MP-44 sold, and sold very well.

A lot of this stuff is targeted to kids who were born in the 1980s. We're almost all in our 30s. Most of us have jobs, careers and disposable income. We're young enough to not have to worry much about retirement yet, but old enough to have some spare scratch. We are prime age to get the action figures we always wanted but never got. Hence Super7 unveiling their $45 TMNT figures based not on any animated, comic or movie design, on the $5 Playmates designs from 1989.

It's fine these exist. For children, Hasbro has the $10 5" Marvel lines which are analogous to the Toybiz figures of the 1990s. They have the simplified Star wars figures without elbows and knee articulation. They have Transformers Cyberverse. They just bought Power Rangers and have a lot of Beast Morphers offerings.

Everyone rises together. The companies, kids, collectors.

With regards to Unicron, there is no evidence any numbers are fudged at all. $600 is not a lot money for someone in a stable situation not living paycheck to paycheck. $600 since mid July is easy. This is not a kids figure. A 10 year old weighing 70 lbs would probably hit trying to play with this. This is for adults.

Moreover if this had failed, it would have been a major bummer, but we would have moved on. This is something we hoped would happen, but did not exist in our brains has having a realistic chance of happening anytime soon, until July. The anticipation has been for Titan-class Scorponok, which we saw the first little bit of at NYCC. If this had failed, it would have had a negligible effect on fan interest nor been much of an embarrassment to Hasbro that makes their money on their main lines and not this.

I see this as a very good thing for the Transformers community. Whatever the number of final orders - 11,500, 15,000 or nearly 23,000 - it shoulds extremely strong interest in Transformers, Generation 1, and specialty items. This was a brand left for dead until Beast Wars, that just over a decade ago would skirt around doing real "Neo G1". Now the most ambitious Transformer ever got wholly funded. That's exciting for the line and I hope encourages Hasbro to keep on a G1-ish focus and offer specialty items in the future.

Take Titan-class. They've crept up from $120 to $150 to $160 since 2014, and while they're great, they do have some compromises, largely because they had to be sold at TRU, at a price point TRU would take them for. But TRU is gone and Hasbro/Walmart don't carry Titan class. They're Online only in the US anyway. Why not make Scorponok online only, $200, and go the extra mile? They really should.

Kinda excited to be getting this figure!

I just hope by then we get new voyagers or leader class figures of Rodimus Prime and Galvatron!

Cyclonus and the sweeps would be a nice bonus! :)

Happy this got funded, but RIP my bank account.

Also I think it's funny how at the top it says "Due to high order volumes, shipping time may be delayed."

Um you're the ones who set the minimum at 8000! :lol

Can't wait for this, but I still love Armada Unicron and his Platinum Edition reissue. Unicron toys have had so many problems making it to the pass. I recommend viewing Transformers Explained: Unicron Toyline, for a lowdown and to realise how lucky we are to get this toy.

*Thinks, "Rationally speaking, setting the progress bar to simply 8000+ is a win-win because it both reassures fans anxiously waiting that it's funded for sure, and dispels conspiracy theories born of the sudden and inevitable spikes caused by third party retailers adding their totals at the end and also helps protect the confidentiality and nature of those orders and their sizes so people won't endlessly speculate about or try to guess what their inventories look like in terms of totals."*

*Also thinks however, "Hasbro really doesn't know this fanbase do they?"*

I do hope we get to know what the final numbers were. I get why they may have done what they did, but I think having the counter gone on the last day took a lot of fun out of it.

Anyone who ordered through The Chosen Prime website, make sure to check your e-mail and even your spam folder. I received an e-mail from them (that unfortunately went straight to my junk mail), saying that they are now collecting the $175 deposit today. It says any orders with deposits not paid by the start of business on Tuesday morning, will be canceled. Just wanted to let everyone know. Would hate to see anyone have their order canceled.

Seconding this, just so more people get a chance to see it. I fortunately got mine in my main inbox, but I would hate to see someone's order cancelled just because the email went to the spam folder.
