You know Unicron poses some unique challenges, because not only is he tall and wide, but he seems deep as well. I'm thinking I need to buy an acrylic sheet for 90 bucks and then make some channel cuts into some 1 x 1 x 1 for the frame. Then I have to build a pedastal for the display...

Lucky you. My wife will forgive me... eventually. Until then at least we have a comfy couch.

You wouldn’t call it that? I’m not taking a shot at the figure, but I wish the leg plates folded inside the legs themselves (the backpack bothers me less than that, for some reason)

No... they aren't screwing themselves out of money. They are smarter than that.

Don't ever guess that you have their bean counters beat at doing the money maths.

Well, I've been thinking about the extension, and my opinion on the why of it has changed. Perhaps @hendrijr has some insight he can share.

Initially I thought they extended the deadline because they were afraid it wouldn't make it. But now, after hendrijr mentioned that Hasbro's profit margin goes up dramatically after it went above 8000, I think they extended it because they were confident it would succeed, but only by a small margin. The extension gave it enough time to possibly make it to 10,000, where before it probably would have topped out only slightly over 8000.

So the extension was just a moneymaking gambit. Like sitting on pocket aces but you keep calling the bets so other players raise instead of fold, because you know you're going to win but you really want to win big.

You’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head. They had 8000 in the bag barely. The extension allowed them to shoot for 10k and the extra profitability.

No, I wouldn't. But mostly because it doesn't disrupt the profile of the legs. Yeah, those panels are clearly there but what of it? Doesn't hinder anything or look obnoxious.

Do you call the tail halves hanging off of Grimlock's legs kibble? Or any of Snarl's dino bits kibble?

They are what they are, man.

    You want kibble:

I firmly believe this. The spike we saw on Pulse over the last day and half would have been replicated (much like the sail barge) even with the earlier deadline. Factor in affiliates sales, it would have gotten past 8000. This gives it the distinct possibility of 10,000 +. Which, really is a win for everyone. I've confirmed my orders, I'm ready to go!

Personally I never feel good seeing potential backers locked out due to arbitrary timers and availability. Many people had sudden expenses that couldn't wait. House, car, health, etc. But would be able to buy once out of their unique circumstances. Also we're looking at near 2 years of nothing waiting for Uni. I'm fine with that, but it would be so much more fun to see stretch goals and keep this thing being an "event" all the way to release. I am just always in favor of more consumer friendly practices and I think this crowd fund system has a lot of room for improvement both in consumer friendliness and fun factor. I am also supportive of a payment plan. Doesn't necessarily have to be either/or. Both would be more consumer friendly and I'd welcome both.

Fair enough. I do think it makes him a bit of a shellformer - by no means is it a dealbreaker, its an amazing figure. It would have been nice to stow the plates inside the lower legs tho.

Oh no doubt. There are much more egregious examples than Unicron.
