Yeah, it’s the same situation for me as far as space goes. I’d need to get some new display furniture into my office and I really don’t see myself doing that. I need the space for other things.

I’m realizing that for me part of the urge to buy this is thinking of it as a rare opportunity and that passing it up now means I won’t have another chance. Of course, that’s not true. Like you said, some backers will likely be selling. Also, once the molds have been produced I imagine Hasbro will continue to make use of them. The original Fortress Maximus still gets reissued, and I would think Unicron has a chance of being reissued as well at some point.

This is something that I’ll need to pass on for now, due to both cost and space it’s not the right time for me to purchase one.

I’m really looking forward to seeing all the photos when people receive theirs though! :)

That's actually a really good idea. The only caveat is whether the box will be able to withstand Unicron's weight.

They just get to take advantage of time zones. 7pm in UK is still early afternoon in New York and Rhode Island.

I went back & forth for weeks. Slept on it, got up this morning & opened Omega Supreme. Looked at him and all the titans. Thought about Scorponok next year. I've got so many and honestly I'll bye fewer & fewer as time goes on. So it came down to me being OK with having all the Titans minus Unicron. I couldn't pass. Wanted too but that planet mode. Never ever thought I'd see the day. Good thing I've got 17 months to make room.

I disagree. You DO need a giant Unicorn. We all need one.

In toy collecting, regret usually comes from not pulling the trigger. While I don’t look at toys as an investment, I doubt you’d lose any money selling this thing when t actually comes out. Just sayin’.

Is the Unicron 27.2 inches tall from feet and to the top of his head or is it his horns?

That is the one thing that is teetering me off the fence to buy it, just have a few hours to ponder, and although it ties up the "investment" for 18 months, I figure if I change my mind, I can get at least what I paid out of it.

This is FOMO, fear of missing out. It's just a marketing tactic. While Hasbro's marketing for this project was laughably inept, the initial push was dripping with semi-nonsensical "MAKE HISTORY!", "NEVER AGAIN", "BIGGEST EVER!", etc. Some people buy into that schlock, but those who have successfully worked in the field are not so gullible, and see it for what it is. It may be history, or maybe not. It may be biggest now, but that can change later. "Never again" has fine print showing it actually could happen again.

With vendors buying excess to sell, possibly being strong-armed by Hasbro to do so (it's been rumored), aftermarket price will probably be locked near the current $775 ask. Maybe $875 at most? I just don't see this moving quickly or easily, as items in the $500+ rarely do. Resellers wanting to double their money will probably be sadly mistaken, at least for that 1st post-release year. I've already seen posts where people want to unload things like Snake Mountain, and will probably be lucky to make their money back, after shipping and fees. There's also always risk with buyers, and $500+ can be a hard swallow for selling novices.

It's likely. Hasbro has said "never again", but it's just the marketing. They want you to buy now, not later. But marketing isn't the whole business. If they can spin up production again in 5 years, do a few tweaks to QC or paint or whatever, limited run, why wouldn't they? Companies like Hasbro didn't get big by leaving money on the table. And of all the toy companies out there, Hasbro is the king of re-releases/re-deco. Just look at the 2019 Marvel Legends, and see how many are minor repaints for another $20 apiece. Unlike Star Wars or Marvel, Hasbro fully owns the IP to Transformers, and have a vested interest in doing whatever is needed to continue to franchise. That means more and more toys, on top of movies and cartoons and whatever else they can shovel out to suckers consumers.

At the end of the day, it's just a toy. :)

I have fond memories of the '86 movie, those characters were always my favorites. But I don't know that I liked Unicron enough to shell out that much cash, and upend rooms to display it. Seems we're having the same thoughts.

Does it mean that when the campaign ends tonight they will charge everyone the full price?

No, they charge the deposit and don't charge full price until after it comes in.

That's the appeal with the sellers like TCP/BBTS; you're not putting all the money down, just a deposit.

It means after the crowdfund is done you owe them $175 and then the rest will be due when unicron comes in stock
