Sorry I missed this thread. Went to Target yesterday. The computer denied me both Soundwave AND Megatron, so it is all Voyagers. Put me off enough that I decided once again I couldn't spend $80 on Rainmakers. Glad I made that decision though as a few hours later I found Ectotron was restocked.

Normally it would mess up inventory counts (still a far cry from actual fraud, the definition of which requires theft to occur), but this is Target, who uses the same SKU for entire lines and can't tell the difference anyway.

The problem with all the "fraud" comments is when you look at the Target receipt there's no way to distinguish from the voyager figure you left to the voyager figure you left the store with.

Why do you think random old stock starts showing back up right after a new figure is released?

It's the one thing I've always found weird about target. You can scan an item in store and it shows one number, but when you scan it at the register it comes up under another, which is also the number they use when you return said item.

Eh not efficient. There’s time frames when stocking items. Scanning every item may sound like a simple and easy thing to do, but that takes time. Time is not something employees have enough of. Where I work we get our trucks on Monday, and have through Thursday to put it all out. If we scanned each individual item it would probably take us twice as long which is time we simply don’t have. The longer we work truck the less time we have to clean the store and face items. Not to mention it would effect your productivity rate. I don’t expect you to understand you’d have to experience it first hand.

Scanning one item and paying for another is problematic. Most stores base their inventory off of what is scanned. So if you’re scanning a different item than what you’re actually taking, you’re messing up inventory. Not to mention it is considered theft where I work.

These figures don't have actual street dates though, there's nothing on the case to indicate to the employees that they cannot be sold. The big screw up here is whoever placed a street date on Thundercracker in the first place and then accidentally applied it to all voyagers. Walmart and Amazon are able to sell Thundercracker without issue so why is Target making up street dates?

welp, it's release day today of the wave set and i managed to get StarScream, and Thundercracker and HighTower. At Walmart they finally stocked Soundwave on the shelf and i got the last one which completes my cassette 2 packs i got last month. Rodimus, Red Swoop, PoP Grimlock, PoP Rodimus Prime, and Stripes i got from a Hasbro order.

Exactly this. It’s a corporate issue, not an employee one.

Idk why you would do that. Makes no sense to say that in this context but good on you friend!

Btw doesn’t change the policy for which my store has outlined in the employee handbook at all. Calling me out on it makes no sense, I didn’t make the rules I only follow them. You scan an item, you put that same item in the bag and the customer leaves with it. It’s that simple. I would never put my job on the line just cus someone wants a toy really bad.

Went to Target today. Denied SS DOTM Optimus. Street date was NEW YEAR'S DAY. This is getting nuts. Really makes me not want to bother with them anymore.

Target’s system is just not well thought out, beyond Transformers.

We tried to buy a KitchenAid mixer for our daughter and couldn’t purchase it because it was an “online purchase only”. Yet it was sitting there on the shelf.

We didn’t get pissed, we just explained that it was on the shelf and had a sale tag. The cashier helped us get a different mixer and gave us a huge discount.

It seems like a tremendous hassle for both parties: customers and Target employees alike. I agree that there needs to be a better system in place.

With the way things are going, I would be surprised if, or when, the accounted majority of toy purchases are from online sources.
