My largest commissioned custom to date. I was given free reign to do what ever I thought was cool. I decided to do darker colors, similar to Livio Ramondelli's version. Then thought since Fortress Max and Metroplex had electronics that Trypticon deserved some too. So I added LED's to his head and hips, all of which are functional in all transformations with easily accessed batteries. The controversial part was the addition of combiners to him. I have a G1 Metroplex next to my desk and always loved how you could add combiners to him and figured it was time Trypticon had a turn. My client was a great guy who also supplied me with bots to use for parts, so Combiner Wars Motormaster donated his combiner ports. I installed them in Trypicons arms above the elbow and in his legs below the knee. I love how he looks and so did my client. I say controversial because I've gotten comments about not agreeing with the addition but they did appreciate the work. Full Gallery can be found here
I really like the paintjob and added light gimmick but WHY did you make him a combiner in the first place? I mean I see the comparison with Metroplex who has some bots on his legs, too. But Trypticon looks like a wannabe Menasor now. Maybe transform the limb bots into arms. That could be cool.
I thought it'd be cool. Yeah having mostly the Stunticons on him isn't helping but it's the idea that you can ad whoever you want.
This is perfect! My biggest concern was that they might be an eyesore without the limb bots, effectively ruining a perfect good toy.
That was my concern when putting them in. Took my time finding the right placement for them and did all I could to make them seamless.
The combining feature is no more obtrusive than it is on Metroplex (which always felt like a lame feature - my brother and I never combined them as kids). I don't care for it, but why not? It's more work, but doesn't affect the final figure much. It's still added value for someone, right? zmog
