ok, had a chance to calm down with a cheeky schoolnight glass of red ( rebel!) to pour over the new Earthrise reveals - i'm.... somewhat Whelmed?? - there's nothing that leaps out as a complete fail, i even quite like Soundbarrier - but there's little that tactically nukes my socks off (beyond Scorpy - that was much more than i was expecting - i honestly thought we'd just see a claw or something- not the greyscale of Zarak) -

Hoist & Grapple - very happy to see these 2 - always had a soft spot for the 'civilian' autobots - i guess the book now opens on whose retool gets shafted to Wallgreens Exclusive- i fear it'll be Trailbreaker...
Wheeljack looks cool - as does Cliffjumper
the only one i'm a tad 'meh' on is Starscream - there's nothing wrong with him per se, i just... expected something more somehow? - i'll no doubt end up owning him and whatever repaints spawn off the tooling, but i doubt i'll be grabbing them at full price..

there was a curious lack of any targetmasters too, which makes me wonder if they're being held over to the end of the line or WFC3...

and i actually quite like the new Cyberverse stuff too - interesting introduction of BAF - wonder if we'll ever see it in the 'collector' line? - cool way to get an xxarron?

Don't spend it all at once ;)

What with seeing all the ramps in Earth rise, I couldn't help but think of this.

Not simply for the visual poetry conjured above, but I'm with BOOOOOABIE on this one. Starscream has the smug, big chin, faux 'i'm a humble kinda guy' irksomeness of the official worst member of Queen.

    WILLIES!!!

So, howzabout them updates? I remain indifferent to Prime and Starscream (though Im curious if/how they're going to do the coneheads from that mold. Faux cones ala MP and Classics, one assumes). Grapply looks reassuringly chunky compared to the renders, though that sure is one big back heel. Ironworks looks the nuts in hand. Bring on the Modulators! I'm actually feeling a bit ambivalent about Wheeljack, Hoist and Cliffjumper. They all look super impressive in vehicle mode, but a little awkward and graceless in 'bot mode. But Impactor didn't wow me on first look, so hope springs eternal.

Wheeljack's ears are definitely too small though. Those cunts should be massive. Like Prince Charles.

So, no Battlemasters, Micromasters, Optimus, or Starscream in my shopping cart. This is looking like a cheap wave to me. And, with Astrotrain filling the box assortment alongside Optimus, we're not expecting another Leader, or anymore wave one reveals, right?

Yeah, Mirage looks pretty cool. Another tick for the Ark Crew updates. Pity the rest are going to be so earth modey. I like a unified aesthetic.

Yeah, not best pleased with that - especially considering their cynical "Malibu Stacy"-ing of fan faves I could easily see the blue trailer floor and fists version coming up as a 35th or Selects 'Toon colours version at a later point in time. Rassum Frassum!
Yeah, it's a mixed bag of expectation vs. reality on those CG art plus IRL toy/proto IRL images. Cliffy looks great in CG but in the plastic, well, I really think (though I admit the engineering might make this impossible) that if the inner parts of his chest visible under the rear windscreen were in his dark grey the figure would look way better but as it the jigsaw lines visible thru it really throw off the aesthetic. I suppose Toyhax might kit him out with an opaque rear windscreen sticker that might sort it out?
    :lolol
Wait, hasn't @Decepticreeps100 Bobby just cut-and-pasted a description of Jeremy Clarkson in there?!
To each there own, upscaled CHUG seeker's definitely for me though!

These new reveals are great, I missed out on a big chunk of the later classics/generations figures and never picked up Gen, Hoist, Wheeljack or Grapple.

One question, did the Siege Micromasters ever get to UK brick & mortar retail? I saw a few of the Targetmasters in the Entertainer but never saw any others

I bloody hope so!! I'm not holding my breath, but I certainly live in hope Captain Clash shall grace us with his presence.

That is certainly an interesting idea. That BAF dude with Cyberverse certainly looks nice. Haven't watched any of the show yet, so no connection to the character, but he looks cool. Non-transformable. Actionmasters are back baby!!

So after a sleep and a cool down period, I'm still giddy at the prospect of all these new guys. Particularly happy with how Wheeljack and Hoist look. What do we all reckon - will any future Tracks be a retool of Wheeljack a la Generations, or something new entirely?

Also like the look of all the Micromasters. I wasn't expecting much at all yesterday morning, but I'm glad to have been wrong. Naturally I'm now thinking about all the repaint and retool potential of what we've seen.

    Cliff to Hubcap/ Bumblebee
    Hoist to Trailbreaker/ Turbofire/ Scorch
    Wheeljack to Runamok/ Tracks/ Slicer/ Boss
    Starscream to... really?
    Grappel to Inferno/ Artfire/ Hauler
Earth Prime to Nemesis Prime/ not the Thunderclash repaint we want.

I wonder what earth mode goodness commander class might give us? I guess we'll have to wait til Toy Fair 2020 to find out.

The Kapow site appears to be down at the moment? Could be just my browser. I'm wondering if its crashing because of mental traffic for people looking to snap up and NYCC exclusives they might have listed.

I see IDT have listed the Earthrise stuff for Jan 2020. Earlier than I expected. So we'll be getting Siege Wave 5 just before xmas and Earthrise wave 1 just after? Oh Hasbro you are spoiling us!

A couple more shots of the big lad. He's not as natural a poser as some, but with a bit of care (and a stand to help out) he can be pretty dynamic.

I kinda love the variety of shapes and sizes in the deluxe range this time around. I think it's valid to be concerned with the relative smallness of recent leaders, but the other side of the coin is that deluxes are free to be exactly as big or small as they need to be. The concerns of 2012 seem a long time ago now.

Welp, the internal debate abut whether to pick up a second Mirage or not has been rendered moot as now my copy's other (right) leg has shattersploded, not only a lengthy crack along the shin corner this time but also the port for the tip of the pin has also a-sploded as well as the loop of plastic the pinhead butts up to cracked in half (And I haven't even put a drop of paint on that!) - as I discovered when his whole shin and foot came off in my hand as I was applying superglue to the crack!
    Oh, dear.
Currently it is reattached by some superglue and the guttering vestiges of my hope so, yeah, replacement has become necessary. Hope I have better luck with Number 2!

Seriously? That sucks. I thought it was just a prototype thing. The renders lied. THEY LIED! Not gonna lie, and I know this seems like a bit of a petty thing, especially considering how many customs I have and I could easily fix it, but learning that has seriously cooled me off on that Optimus. Maybe I'll just get one of those old 3P trailers for my classics Prime, as I sense they are gonna go on ebay soon when folks ditch them for this new prime and trailer.

Looks great. Was playing with Brunt last night, and decided that to me, he's not a Cybertronian tank. He's a long range mortar launcher. Like this sucker. But a lot more heavy duty.

Is Astrotrain not Seige wave 5 with the Apeface lot? He's got that battle damage on his legs suggesting siege, not earthrise. So there could be another wave 1 leader reveal.

Yikes! That sounds like really bad plastic choice. Still gonna risk painting him when you get the second?

Yup! Basically F*** it, in for a penny, in for a pound, innit?
Mr. Hobby Aqueous Hobby Colour's a water based much milder not as instantly-drying paint as Mr. Metal Color, and I've tried it out on some sections of Mirage 1 (nowhere near where it's cracked, I hasten to add).
On the evidence I'm coming more to the side that the Metal Color may have accelerated stress fracturing that was already there from pin insertion (the major cracks are suspiciously near the pinned points).
After this though perhaps a Milliput reinforcement of the pin tip collar might be added to the project.

Good luck! I look forward to seeing the results.

Ack, outbid on a CW Hasbro dragstrip that was going cheap. Oh well, not gonna get into a bidding war for that, I'll just add the wheels to the takara one. Maybe make a little mounting plate so as not to devalue the japanese figure. But then again..... Do I really wanna start caring about that?

    Universal scum descriptor.
And of course, in no way should any of my reservations/bitchy comments about the new gear be taken as anything other than glib reflections on how it'd fit in my own collection. The last thing I'd ever do is tell anyone they're 'not collecting right', for there is few sins more odious in the collecting world.

Fucky a duck! Sorry to hear this, la! I'll be handling Mirage with the same tenderness usually reserved for the likes of Thunderclash, Pyro, and Swoop.

I believe he's a repack from Siege wave five, filling out the box for the Earthrise wave one Leader assortment. Dinnae think there's another wave one Leader due, but I have spoken out my arse on many occasions before this. I'd love it if there were. I could do with something kinda sexy.

My last look back at Prime Wars and it is the sorely missed (at least round Wom Towers) 'Master' price point.
I loved these. At first I thought they'd be an easy pass. Then I got some. They tale pride of place atop the stereo amp that my home office monitor sits upon, never far from my adoring eye. In my fantasy world they kept on making these and gave us the rest of the Dinobots, Monsterbots, Horrorcons, Duobots, '88 Headmasters, '87 Headmaster Warriors, and the '88 and '89 Pretenders. Even without the sorrow of that missed opportunity, I look at these lads and think back to one of the most fun periods of collecting TF's in my life. Cheers, ya wee nutjobs.

Thanks! I'm gonna need it as this weekend's hunt could be a pointless exercise as Smyths apparently aren't even listing him?! Still the traipsing will do my pins some good!
Again it's not entirely unexpected and I was probably going to err on the get an unbroken one answer to the conundrum. If I do manage to snag a Number 2 that isn't a metaphorical number 2 maybe it'll turn out better on the QC front? Although I do wonder if I should slow it down and see how others' unadulterated Mirages fare before I take that plunge? Hm, on that thought - to the Mirage feedback thread!!!
I currently get "The Site Cannot Be Reached" on attempting. I wonder if it has anything to do with the Unicron Re-stock that I saw mentioned on Twitter? Like the sudden surge due to the Chaos Bringer has bin dun overstrained the system or summink.
