With the 2nd part of the WFC trilogy being Earth themed I can't now help but wonder if the final part of the WFC trilogy will actually be Beast Wars themed after all since WFC seems to be actually focused on time skips of the war. I mean think about it.

Siege takes place on Cybertron which is in the past.
Earth Rise focuses on the war being on Earth on the present.
Which then leaves the 3rd part to take place in the future where the Maximals and Predacons taking the place of Autobots and Decepticons.

It does indeed add up to Warden's comment on 2021 being a huge year for BW fans which also happens to be the year that the 3rd part of WFC will take place. If that's the itnent all along then that's beyond exciting. Course one could make the argument that it could be 86 movie/victory themed but who's to say that the 3rd could be a transition period of the end of the Great War and into the BW era? It'd be killing two birds with one stone.

    John Warden:
When we look at what we're going to do, we also kind of look at the anniversaries that are coming up.

It all hinges on Rodimus and Galvatron. As you rightly point out, @kaijuguy19, it's also the 35th Anniversary of TF:TM, so Warden's comment, while in the context of BW at the time, does relate to all anniversaries. However, if Rodimus and Galvatron show up in... Earthrise (awful name, BTW), then 2021 is wide open.

I think you're mostly right but Hasbro could combine both Anniversaries, as there aren't that many Season 1 characters and that way you keep more of the fan base happy.

Also agree on the name, I wonder if they Originally wanted Earthfall but it was already taken by that videogame? I feel Exodus would have worked better personally.

I doubt Galvatron will be in Earth Rise as he's very explicitly Cybertronian, and he seems like a villain they'd want to keep for the end of the trilogy (depending on what the narrative is). Rodimus, could go either way. There's probably a considerable amount of other G1 guys they want to fit in WFC as well.

I don't think they would have WFC p.3 entirely focused on BW, but I do think there's a decent possibility Beast Wars might get it's own sub-line - like Studio Series, but probably smaller (less characters). I would be good with this, because it would mean they aren't directly competing with other characters for "spots" in the mainline.

Well....as predicted Earth Rise looks like another G1 rerun. I mean it's cool and all, I'm really liking the aesthetic and level of articulation they've gone for with Siege and Earth Rises (reminds me of what MP used to be) but... when is G1 fatigue gonna kick in? Never? I'm still sceptical we'll see much in the way of Beast Wars for 2021. I predict no more than handful of figure celebrating the anniversary, certainly not a whole Beast Era/Beast Mode focused line.., but hey I'm willing and very happy to be proved wrong.

I honestly do think we are going to see some Beast Wars in 2021, but they're going to be cautious about it. I don't think it will be hugely front loaded with every size class of characters like Studio Series or Siege - at least not from the beginning. What they will likely do is "test the waters" with one or two small (but substantial) waves covering Season 1 characters.

    A hypothetical of what that might look like;

    Wave 1
    Deluxe
    *Cheetor
    *Optimus Primal
    *Rattrap

    Voyager
    *Dinobot
    *Rhinox

    Wave 2
    *Black Arachnia
    *Tigatron
    *Waspinator

    Voyager
    *Terrorsaur
    *Megatron

Like I've mentioned before it's possible that the 3rd part of the WFC trilogy may include both the 86/remaining later G1 characters yet to be made and the BW cast as a way to not only celebrate both anniversaries on the same year but to also to be the first line to start transitioning from focusing on the G1 crowd and into the TF eras that came after it starting with the Beast Era in the form of the narrative being about the end of the Great War and the beginning of the Maximal and Predacon era. It's a time period that hasn't been explored much if at all and if the WFC theme is about different time periods of the war then that's a fitting idea.

As much as a hot seller G1 is right now there WILL be a moment where it stop being a hot seller so by gradually moving on to future TF eras in this manner as opposed to doing it all at once it'll make it easier for people who either aren't familiar, or a fan of the other TF eras to swallow the gradual change from Generations being solely G1 focused to being more inclusive for the other TF eras. It's a win win situation basically.

There's been a few little Beast Wars discussion spot-fires pop up in other threads, so rather than derailing them any further, I'll just pop my thoughts in here:

If (and it is hypothetical) Hasbro had concerns about producing new Beast Wars figures, releasing them to coincide with a big anniversary would be a smart idea; the milestone acting as a wonderful way to help promote them. Something like a 25th Anniversary, for example, would be perfect, and as luck would have it, 2021 is just such a year.

Beast Wars fans aren't looking for a take over or a new Beast Era. They're just looking for a couple of nice figures to enjoy. At the end of the day, isn't that what all Transformers fans are after?

Warden just made many mentions to Beast Wars in the Sy-FY panel at the first day of NYCC. If that's not a strong indicator of something huge happening for the BW fans in 2021 then I don't know what is cause otherwise why make many mention of BW if it ultimately something big won't happen for BW fans that year?

For a(nother) G1-centric reveal panel, it was quite surprising to hear the 4 or 5 mentions Beast Wars got.

As always, I'm hoping some off the cuff interviews with Mr. Warden pop up in the next few days with some other tidbits.

2021 will probably be 86' movie themed to go with Unicron.

But hey, Cyberverse now has a Generations quality line, so who knows, maybe we see Cheetor, Blackarachnia or our favorite poet repaint of TM2 Cybershark get a quality toy in 2020.

I look at things like Prime's trailer (plus his removable Matrix), Ironworks being a base and the way ramps are being used to connect them, and I can't help but feel Rodimus just might turn up in Earthrise (terrible name, BTW) with his own trailer acting in a similar fashion.

It could be my eternal optimism clouding my judgement as usual, or they could be genuine hints.

    This is curious:

"As the battle rages through space, success depends on who can best adapt to the battlefield beyond."

Taking on new guises is nothing new to Transformers, but I can't help but hear Megatron's voice: Then we will create alternate forms, based on the most powerful local creatures.

"Allegiances can shift just as rapidly, with a new Mercenary faction introduced into the Earthrise
[awful name, BTW] world alongside the Autobots and Decepticons."

    New factions, you say? Hmm...

    It's all very curious indeed.

My Magic 8-Ball says yes. Wolfang/K-9 will be a retool/pretool of a Pretender Beast Carnivac. Maybe a Generations Selects release.

As long as it's not exclusive I'm fine :D

And I hope he comes with posable mouth and legs.
