Wasn't much of nothing, but with the way the other reveals have been nailed we may be getting news of a Cliffjumper .....and A goid chance MP 50 wont be BW     .

 

Sunstreaker reissue for May. Does this mean we will see a Sideswipe 2.0?

If Sideswipe 2.0 is a thing I hope it's a rare case. With all the + versions of things going around it would jarring for them to also have a chance of 2.0, so much to upgrade.

Like I expect big popular bots to get new versions but not so much everyone else.

Though if anything it's probably just because it's a really old mold.

 

I think if a + version has been made for a character, specifically the + version being the new animation accurate look, you can bet that Takara is permanently done with the character.

Sideswipe, Wheeljack, Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen are considered done. They release too slowly and they still have too many new characters to make, to re-visit these.

 

That's what I am hoping.

I just had MP29+ arrive this week and he looks amazing. In no way do I think they would need to do a 2.0 Shockwave but the thought of having to buy a newer version sucked.

MP44 just shipped as well, but I expect a new version of him, even if it's many years from now. He a popular bot.

Also planning to buy 12+,14+, and 39 all together in June next year.

 

The aesthetics for MP12 do not flow well with MP39.
I do think we'll see a V2 Sideswipe to better compliment Sunstreaker.
The MP12+ release was a simple repaint, and not an uodated mold.
Plus, Swipe is popular enough a character to warrant a V2.

 

How about a Red Alert 2.0?

I have seen ppl wanting that here and there.

 

Anything is possible. The Lambos do seem like a solid go-to for Takara.
Maybe we'll eventually get Deep Cover, or a certain Stunticon.

 

Any thoughts on a Ironhide or Ratchet +/2.0?

 

I still they think they are good enough that I wouldn't want to see a V2 for a long time. I really love the Lambo mold, outdated as it is. The plus repaints really helped a lot to blend them to the cartoon look

 

Not before Screamer or Soundwave, unless like @SunSwipe5 mentioned, they ended up renegotiating some stuff with Lambor like <cough> Breakdown and decided to redo some stuff for Sideswipe. I just don't think that's gonna happen any time soon. They nail these last 5 diaclones and a new Swipe./Red ALert and probably the Datsuns will be in the mix in the next few years.

 

So is this the rehash speculation thread now ? Guys , gals , Sideswipe 2.0 ? Ironhide and ratchet 2.0 ? No no no . With characters like Galvatron , Cyclonus , scourge , any type of combiner, or even a hand full of mini bots to choose from , I find it really hard for any of those molds mentioned above to get a brand new version so soon. Swipe is old , but he isn’t seeker 2.5 version old . He’s not even Grimlock mold old ! I’m with the guy who said a + version is equal to box checked , let’s move on . There’s just to much out there to choose from . And sideswipe sure as hell isnt more popular then soundwave . It’s fricken SOUNDWAVE !

Not a frequent poster but just wanted to say that new Earthrise Cliffjumper's alt mode is clearly based on a Mitsubishi Starion and not a Porsche 924 or 944 so a Jazz/CJ double reveal I would imagine is out the window for now.

 

Agreed. My interest in this thread has been waning steadily since the re-dos took over much of the talk. I haven't lost interest in the line itself, but talking about which characters they're going to remake is certainly not as exciting as trying to guess at which new ones might be announced.

 

I'm just going to throw this out there, but don't base what happens in the MP line off of the main lines. They are separate entities within the franchise, with different teams, aiming at very different sets of people. Just because something in the mainline is based on one car doesn't mean that the vehicle the G1 version was based on is out of the question. Until the line stops, EVERY THING is potentially on the table until we are told it isn't.
