To be clear, I’d buy this Optimus in Ecto-35 (who has gray hands) colors. Not sure how I feel about a Nemesis Prime with gray hands. That might work.

But anything THAT CLOSE to G1 with gray hands is a pass. I’d accept the legs or trailer in blue just to get the blue hands.

I passed on PotP Optimus over the gray hands too.

Love the sculpt. Bring on the repaints because I ain’t buying it in the standard colors.

We saw the renders yesterday. He has blue hands. This is a bloody painted prototype. You can see it on the gun that is grey too, painted black.

Actually the whole "shoulders turn inward on the hinges of rear wheels" is taken from 2006 Classics Bee.

Phew I lucked out. I do not like that SS so I'm glad I got the Seige version.

Warden said via tfu.info's livestream that the final product will have grey hands. Unfortunately due to how the mold is laid out it was a sacrifice they had to make, unless you wanted the most of the back end of the trailer and thighs to be blue.

Wierd how theres clearly a retool of siege Sideswipe shown, but still no Sunstreaker. Hmmmmm.

 

Seriously, out of all the issues the toy could have, and it's the hand color that keeps you from buying.

50/50? Seems like a decent re-use of Fasttrack, presuming we get him

 

Digested everything a bit, my thoughts on the figures I liked/will get:

Wheeljack - the rear spoilers flip out to become the Wings; Warden showed it in the TFU.INFO video; proportions are 100% better than the stocky generations version and no CW gimmick to ruin the figure either

Hoist - Looks JUST like his cartoon/G1 toy, arm kibble and ALL -- upgrade from the IDW T30 version which required add-ons to look G1-ish

Grapple - Looks like a mini Masterpiece figure, perfect -- skinny and has crane on his BACK where it belongs, not the RTS version attached to the arm......

Cliffjumper - Finally its own mold and done FIRST before a Bee, looks pretty cool, although I wish/hope it fits closer to the mini-bot legend figures they have put out.

While I like the overall looks of Starscream and Optimus, they feel like double dips for me in departments that I already have covered between MPs and other versions.

For personal reasons, I'm passing on the Micromasters.


You know what is the best though, that we are ALL TRANSFORMER FANS and are allowed to have our own opinions based on our OWN collection habits.

I don't mind the gray hands that much. I mean, I'd rather have that than out of place blue pieces that break up the look of the trailer.

 

With regard to more seekers -
Now where do you stop with this? The "Generations" line has a mix of voyager and deluxe, if you start swapping out for a bigger one do you then start looking to swap 'all' deluxes for voyagers. For example bigger Seekers will immediately dwarf the Sweeps.

With my generations collection nearly complete bar a few, the possibility of starting to swap out figure is one hell of a can of worms.

 

That render looks sooo much better than the robot mode pictures we got... I'd love to see an actual picture of him transformed correctly. He may be worth getting after all...

 

I know right? They finally realized that little kids do not buy these, collectors do, and they don't want the simplified stuff.

 

The more I see this new Optimus the less I like it. Don’t get me wrong, it looks great. But that unpainted grey plastic is tacky. And something is off about his chest... seems a little too wide and a little too short. I like that they removed the the kibble from the arms, but now the body looks like a mess from the sides.

All in all, I think I’ll be perfectly happy with my classic animation Siege Optimus. (As soon as it arrives...)

I’ve said this on the Unicron thread as well, I promised to myself I wouldn’t get into Siege and collect only MPs as my only representation of G1. But thanks to Omega Supreme, Jetfire, Unicron and all these reveals I’ve given into temptation...

As a kid, I had the Universe Skywarp and Magnus set, so seeing this Starscream mold makes reminds me of those times. Always wanted other Universe figures but availability was scarce and my parents lived by the bill.

Anyway, I kinda agree with the sentiments here. The Earth Rise Starscream looks worse than Siege proportion wise. They definitely did the torso better on that mold. Though, we’ll have to wait to know for sure if it’s better than it looks. Alt-mode looks good however.

Prime’s hands aren’t a big deal to me, they goofed up with SS Bumblebee Prime as well, so it’s not a first. It’s a bit annoying admittedly. Wheel jack doesn’t look as good as the renders, hope we get more pictures. All the other bots look amazing! Especially CJ, love how he takes from MP Bee but at a smaller scale.

Again, can’t believe I was going to skip over this line.
