Hopefully that'd be the case, though I think I saw on toyark that the 'scale' was 7 ins. Would be a bit weird if so, given that everything else bandai does like this is 1/12 ish (and I'd guess a 1/12 primaris would be about 8 ins) so hopefully you're right. Hell yeah 8) I suppose it might be that they intend this to be a one-off, but I hope not. Just because I'm hyped, some of the stuff I'd particularly like to see happen (after a beakie and mk 8 marine ):
Not a fan of the figure personally, too jarring seeing a giant sized version of a design with less detail in the paint apps then even a basic painter is able to put onto a tabletop model thesedays. Standard Marine infantry is like the most easy thing to do as well, it's going to be rough if they're going to be applying the same standard to stuff that isn't just big surfaces of block colour.
Ugh, I truly loathe the Tau. If someone wants a Tau figure they just need to buy a freakin' Patlabor or HexaGear figure. The starkness of the figure is rather jarring, but on the upside, just imagine how many customizes and painters are foaming at the mouth to get it. There will be loads of custom jobs done from this.
Yeah, I've no attachment to them other than they look a bit Metal gear solid/patlabor-y, and therefore cool in my eyes! Yeah, I think the vanilla look makes sense for that reason, though as someone mentioned upthread it would have been great if it came with little optional add ons (seals etc) that non customisers could adorn it with.
That was going to be part of my plan after getting it, sculpting seals and scriptures to hang on the pauldrons, as well as war damage and grime.
I've not really got a problem with the Tau anymore personally. They didn't fit the universe at all when they were first introduced, but they sorted that out in the fluff ages ago and I think they did a pretty decent job of reconciling their aesthetic with everything else when they updated most of the model range. Plus they aren't taking a spot away from anything that existed previously anymore now that GW have been bringing back all the stuff that they pushed aside after 2nd edition to make the game more marketable and focused on selling larger armies. True, i'm sure there will be pretty awesome stuff to see on the internet once these have been out for a couple of months.
It was no coincidence that the Tau was introduced when GW was making a push into the Asian markets. I used to hang out in Glenn Burnie at the HQ shop back in the day and basically heard that that was the exact reason for it. On a related note to older armies being brought back, I have been sorely tempted of late to get back into it after seeing all the Genestealer Cult stuff.
I know what you mean, i've only barely managed to keep my wallet shut with all the awesome stuff that's been coming out in the last few years. On top of the cult there's been the AdMec army, new Necromunda, Chaos models being awesome again, Horus Heresy in general and the full on Blanche craziness they've been doing in boxed games. They really need to do some new IG infantry models though, the plastic Cadians and Catachan were never good and there is so much they can do with that.
Here's a good place to continue a conversation/discussion on GW stuff: Tabletop Wargames - Flames of War, 40k, et al.
Get Your Space Marine Action Figure - Warhammer Community This thing is limited to 9000. Preorders go live on GW's shop on October 5th.
Well, that makes it a pass for me. No real desire to buy it from them, and add in the limited availability and it'll make it that much more irritating to miss if I'd tried for it. If it were anything besides a Loyalist it would be another story...
Son of a gun! That does imply that this is a one off maybe? Or maybe testing a toe in the water. A shame though, I imagine a big part of the potential audience for this just wont come across it this way. Still planning to get one tho
So that mean we should preorder from them direct? Everyone wants us to do that. We’re losing the reseller even more.
HAhhahahhahahhahahhahhahaha! Oh *this* should be entertaining. Ah well. Once the fallout subsides i look forward to GW moving forward with a different sales model. This makes me appreciate Mattel creating the He-Man Origins (?) and Mega Construx MOTU line.
Yeah I'm kinda confused. I feel like this should be available through Japanese domestic & etailers as well.
So how much is this in US or yen without shipping? It looks super expensive shipped in my local currency, lol!
Ordering through their site it open (at least for uk)! Ordered one myself, and was pleasantly surprised by the price - £75 all in. The joy of being in the uk and actually getting something from the supplier/free shipping/no worries about import fees! Really hoping it gets enough of a response for them to continue with other releases. And, you know, that it’s a good figure.
Considering it's GW, the price shouldn't be surprising at all. What is kind of surprising is that you won't get it for 270-days. Nice try GW, but that's a solid NO from me.
