The trouble is, people KEEP saying that.
First PoTP was a "mini Masterpiece" (lol I know). Then Siege was a mini Masterpiece. Now Earthrise is.
Every Prime we get is the closest to a "definitive" G1 Prime we've gotten yet.

Because it's the same design, but because the laws of physics exist and Hasbro has to work under a budget, there's always a flaw that lets the NEXT Prime take the top spot.

It's the collectible vanishing point. There will always be a better version.

But it's hard to imagine a better Grapple or Optimus outside of decos. I think Hasbro is finally waving the Generations checkered flag for some characters.

Thunderclash could conceivably fit quite nicely into Earthrise, what with his trailer converting into a base.
Could be the Wave 2 leader. Retool the Optimus robot mode and give him a new trailer.
Just like how Ultra Magnus became Galaxy Convoy.

Correct me if im wrong, but does that look like pinned fingers on Prime??

maybe its one of the things besides the trailer filling out the leader price point, but if we get even -some- hand articulation, if anything its probably four arced fingers that can open, that would be amazing! having the ability to have an open relaxed hand on a figure rocks socks! Ive got the Warbotron Bruticus guys, and the gentle open hand posture looks damn good, would be really cool to see it make it to voyager and up sized mainline figs!

I don't understand the complaining about people who are fed up with the geewun crowd and the way they are always being pandered to.
All the people who are laying bare what is wrong with this franchise want is that you stop being geewunners and start being Transformers fans, period.

My God... All these negative nancies who are constantly making up excuses in order to proclaim that Transformers can only ever be what they want it to be are getting more transparent every year.

This franchise - at its heart - has always been about change. It is time you started to embrace that rather than fight it.

Basically, here's what I can see remaining:

They've created the perfect mold to redeco.

I want an Ecto 35 deco of Earthrise Optimus already. But this should replace MP10 as the brand ambassador exclusive mold for every last redeco. 7-11. Pepsi. Lebron. Whatever. At $50 (say, $70 accounting for licensing and exclusivity gouging) it's a dream for that. Half the price of many of the better priced MP10s. These aren't even slots in the Generations line as I see it. This is just everything else. I WANT ECTO 35 SOON THOUGH. Especially with Hasbro taking the Ghostbusters license. We can get Earthrise Optimus and Starscream both redone as Ghostbusters crossovers.

You can do G1 Prime at a bigger scale. Titan scale for 1:18 figures.

You can do the non-G1 Optimuses. Obviously Primal but Fire Convoy, Armada, IDW, etc.

    They
    WERE
    separate brands.

You had Beast Wars and Machine Wars on shelves at the same time. Machine Wars didn't sell, so it went bye-bye.

If you have a problem with Beast Wars being popular, blame yourself for not asking your parents to drive you to Kay Bee to pick up a Machine Wars Optimus Prime.

The more I look at the New Prime, and my Siege Voyager Prime; I don't think this is a Remold of Voyager Prime. The Legs are completely different, Fake Hinges and Fake Voyager Siege Kibble (Look at his 2 Trailer Hitches), the Thigh Fuel Tanks fold in like Bee Prime, and the top looks to twist around, at the biceps like so many Primes before. This is a very simple Prime, with a very simple Trailer, I think the only surprise was the Shield Ramp / Base Connectors, and the Repair Drone Jetpack. I think this is overpriced especially compared to a Studio Series Jet Optimus, so you are paying for space, G1, and not complexity, or weight. I still plan on getting him though.

I expect Bee will be a retool / Repaint of Jazz, I know it's not G1, but Sports Car Bee is more recognizable, and Money speaks. I don't expect too many Earth Modes of existing Cybertronian Mode Figures, I expect a New Earth Megatron. Megatron's not going to let Starscream out of his sight. I expect each Planet to have a Team, with little overlap.

Comparing a niche retailer exclusive subline of old recolors with no advertisement or media support to mass retail is a cute attempt at revisionist history.

but i want my armada prime to explode it was part of the expierence.

G1 inspired primes shouldnt haave waist joints that go forwards.
Powermaster primes legs aren't legally allowed to move.
im very upset the upcoming Star Convy doesnt have a tank strapped to its ass.
Armada prime needs to be semi-combustable, at least.

    And?
    It was G1.
    The internet existed in 1996.
That's where Trukk Not Munky started, on the messageboards. All those old grognards who wanted G1 had an option available to them.

It is a bit disingenuous of me to expect a kid to be aware of Machine Wars, but the adult fans, the people who actually wanted G1, they had G1 options even then. If they wanted G1 toys, then they could buy G1 toys.
And if they had bought them, then Hasbro would've seen the demand in the market, and they would've made more.

Machine Wars could've existed alongside Beast Wars quite easily.

You may have just jumped on with CW but you missed Classics in 2006, Universe 2.0 in 2008 and Generations started in 2010. G1 updates have been around since before the first Bay movie

This is gonna be a long one.
I'm pretty sure sufficient whinging is what led to classics 1.0 happening in the first place, so whinge away.
There's always the Takara one, if it ever gets made :p
Nailhead hit. Not just that G1 gets more in two waves than anything else has gotten, except for Bayverse and maybe Beast Wars.
People say this a lot, but it's not like HAsbro actually made an actual atempt on other lines, not just that anyone who thinks the stragglers of g1 like Apeface and Sixgun are going to outsell characters with actual fictional presences to speak of like Armada Blurr or Sideburn is just dead wrong.

Are you old enough to remember 1996?

1996 was before eBay. They held the 3rd Botcon, organized by the 3rd organizer, that year. We were trading HTF toys on one of two UseNet "boards" because BBTS hadn't opened yet. People still distributed fanzines over mailing lists and GeoCities web rings. Trying to draw equivalence between the "internet" then and the Internet now is like comparing the Wright brothers' stunt in Kitty Hawk to the Apollo 11 launch.

There was no fiction, no advertisement, and definitely no #savemachinewars hashtag on Twitter.

The thing is though that this one nixed standard Ginrai, Armada Prime's not doing that and Armada Prime's super pants are literally made by two panels meeting on a corner in a way that stops there from being any joints so they'll have to be way more creative. Or just dump the base mode :p  but Takara even included Star Saber's """"base mode"""" which wasn't even in the show unlike Armada Prime's.

Its a new mold (except the feet), with aspects of SS 38 Transformation

Well POTP Prime was nonstarter for me...Stickers.

Yes pinned fingers, so the first Mainline Prime that has a Matrix and can properly hold it. Yes BW Mammoth Optimus could but it has those weird bars on the side of the matrix.

And? There was still an online community of Transformers fans, ones that actively communicated with the writing staff of Beast Wars.
If adult fans wanted Transformers news, such as "hey you can buy G1 characters at Kay Bee" then they would've been able to find out.

Looks more like he just puts one finger through each side like some kind of two handed wedding ring.
