    Fair points.

As a standard I'm not a huge fan of zeta, typically their designs don't match what I what but my Zeta superion is more stable and better joints then anything I own from Takara. That's not to say it's a better figure but at 20inches and has less wobble than a car bot.... They got something right.

    Eh.

Remember, Hasbro's got a lot more factors than Zeta has to deal with when making a toy. As stated, this is part of Hasbro's Generations line - it's not a "collectible", it's a toy. As a result, there's a number of safety issues they need to be concerned about. Even small parts that appear after breakage are a safety issue. Remember - the market for Haslab Unicron is a country that has to put "DO NOT EAT" on the desiccant packs they put in shoes.

This thing has a minimum order of 8000 units. They have to make many of him as opposed to this super limited, almost "artisenal" toy. All his parts need to be designed for easy production, assembly, and conversion. Things are different when your run is only 500-1000 or so where people can spend more time on design and assembly and can still turn a profit because they don't have to pay a massive corporate salary up top.

Also, you're kind of making an assumption that there's some kind of Berlin Wall between 3P and official. There might be with fans, but if you really pay attention to both lines, you'll see that the official toys gleefully snatch up engineering concepts and design layout from unofficial toys. Stuff like ankle tilts and butterfly joints and the weapon effects pack ins are things that appeared on 3P toys long before Generations started including them.

I work with corporate concerns. While humans run them and do have egos, the ultimate result is that there's no one dictator issuing orders from Mount Doom here. Every action is taken as a result of some consensus, which usually comes down to there being a colorably rational reason for an action or inaction. Hasbro's not some horrific ogre or toy angel. It's a company doing company things.

The people complaining about negative criticism are the same ones advocating for "democracy" when it comes to cancelling orders. As I said before, the hypocrisy in this thread is just off the scale.

The only consistency I trust out of 3P seems to be MMC. My experiences with guys like TFC only tell me that quality seems to be dependant on what designers they contracted to do the designs. Sure Zeta Superion may be nice but it could also be that the Superion designer/s didn't do the design for Core Star. Just don't feel like gambling here.

Good job people didn't use to put 20kg CRT TV's on wooden stands.... Oh wait, they did.

If your hand built wooden units cant handle 20lb with out damage then they are not built as well as you think they are

If we reach 7000 orders by the end of today or tomorrow, I think it's safe to say the other sites that took orders for Unicron if they haven't already been posted will help us reach the goal.

TV stands are specifically built with that weight in mind. It's also about thickness, board placement / construction, supports. It's not as easy as saying "wood", in terms of the weight it can and cannot handle. But even then, wood buckles on all but the best made furniture. That's why kids are told not to climb on furniture, why everybody is told not to sit on tables/desks. It doesn't have the support that chairs do, somebody made to support weight. 30 lbs may seems like a low number, but it's really not.

Anyway, just sharing one of my concerns, a reason I'm skipping it. :)

It's a waste of time bro. Once that tally gets over 8,000 only thing left to do is pour the champagne. Don't waste time on trolls. It emboldens them.

I'm holding out to be backer 7,999. I want to be the penultimate backer.

Buy 10 or so and troop build!

As much as I like to think an MP version could work via HasLab, I think this is just HasLab reposting something that says "hope this Unicron happens". The fact the post then hopes for Sharkticons is likely not relevant to the repost.

Though if it is, and there's already Generations Sharkies, then hell yeah for some MP versions!

I think theoretically it will be hard to be the penultimate backer. Why? Because if it reaches around 7996 and the next buyer order 5? then you will be passed 8k :D

HA! Valid, actually. If (no clue if this is true or not) the non-affiliate orders need to be placed manually in batches of 5 then this would make very good sense hehe.

You are most welcome. I haven't seen this posted and while checking their Instagram I saw this and I was surprised why they mentioned it there.
I have the iGear pack but always wanted what Hasbro Takara can offer :D

Probably more 1 inch slugs. They really should just announce 1-inch slugs of the entire movie cast, Quints and Kranix included. That would push Unicron well past 8000.

Ditto. Do I have a couple shelves that might handle the weight? Yes. Do I want to feel compelled to go garage sale hunting for an old CRT TV stand (that I don't really have room to place anywhere) specifically to display this one toy? No.
