Ha I thought it was someone’s sick joke that any of us thinking we’ll actually get this figure is a child’s dream!

If the Chinese government busted TungMung that means that they've probably absolutely seized their assets as well, so there's no more mold to buy at this point.

 

Because the mold is the only way to make this figure?

 

I assume that the design files are gone too.

 

The molds are used to make the toy, yes, and without it there is no figure. If people are talking about buying the molds, they're gone.

If people are talking about buying the designs, then who knows, but it's possible that was done internally and whoever designed it is in prison, so...

 

Thats what I meant by buying the mold. Like buying a cad file from one of the guys that weren't arrested. should have made that more clear

Also probably on seized computers and lost forever.

Flash drives and download links are a thing. Stuff is no longer stored on just 1 device. Someone has that cad file

 

I am sure someone does but Bandai has been the company protected from copyright infringement in China. Another 3P company will not have the molds and may just be buying designs on the sly from someone. A. They may not want to pay for the design vs just commission one themselves. and B. If they have the design, the authorities do as well so it is like poking a bear for a 3P company that is currently off the radar to basically flaunt going around them. When you are caught in China the culture is to STFU and take your punishment before it gets worse. Much of who they go after is selective and for show, like here, and likewise so is their reaction to those who would defy them.

Transformers for the most part have been left alone until now but this could cross that barrier for a company. It appears that both Hasbro/TT and China have been well enough to leave 3P alone on MP Transformers as long as the 3P is not using faction symbols or trademarks and names. That's a very fine line to live on. If Hasbro/TT wanted to they could do a lot of damage in 5 minutes to every 3P with a simple form letter.
