not a fan of hiding combiner parts on the individual figures, they compromise to much for the combine mode and make the individual bots worse for it.

I know you're thinking of MMC's all in one combiner when saying thing, but I can't help and look at the OTHER end of the spectrum where you have Zeta Toys, where the combiner can be formed without using the torso bot.

Think it's early to call the shift or not.

It is what it is...his legs appear to be the back half of the ambulance and you still need a decent sized chest and it has height constraints. The thighs get the short end of the stick ;)

What? His thighs are ok for a transformer. They are no longer or shorter than Armageddon's thighs... Unless you tell me that Zeta's Bruticus has short thighs too!

@BIOMEC don't know why you are being so snarky about it, but yes they do look short from the front

I haven't seen many video reviews on Bulance since his release. Wondering where my YouTubers at? Lol. So close to completing this set... so close.

Yeah, I subscribe to a few reviewers but I tend to like Emgo's. (can kinda be annoying but still fun and informative) My copy of Bulance had some majorly scratched up windows. Wondering if anyone else that received their figure had similar issues?

Ahh sorry to hear about Sargent. But at least you got a good Bulance. The set that I've received up til now was quality issue free til Bulance. Oh wells I guess. Gonna put him into combined mode and leave it at that.

But how is this much different from the original G1 toy?
    G1 Defensor.jpg
That is, Groove attaches like most of the other combiner legs. Streetwise is somewhat unique in that he covers Defensor's knee, making his thigh look shorter.

Sorry if my post came out sounding like that, but what makes the thighs "short", imo, are Groove and Streetwise protruding too much above the knees, that's why I provided a picture taken from behind.

Finally got mine in yesterday from Baba. I'm really, really happy about how he looks in both modes but especially bot mode (my priority). I was never thrilled about the exposed wheels being so prominent on his chest, but as so often happens what seems glaring in stills isn't so bad in hand. The sculpt and color are really top notch, backpack is pretty minimal. Transformation wasn't too bad, I felt I could figure it out more or less on my own but the legs were finicky enough that I used Sun of the Empire's video to make sure I was doing it right. Turns out I was, but the various leg panels on mine don't want to tab together all that well. The trailer doesn't interest me but it seems well executed all the same; I don't know if it's strictly necessary but it looks like it might contribute to the stability of the gestalt and if so then it's a good extra step they've taken.

There are only two real issues I have with him aesthetically. Those huge panels on his forearms really bug the hell out of me. All of GT's Protectobots have suffered from this to some degree, Streetwise probably being the least impacted. I expected it on Blades and can certainly overlook it with Groove, those are alt modes that are very unforgiving for where they had to end up as bots. But these panels seem kind of egregious to me. It looks like if they were removed it would not downgrade his looks too much, but on the other hand it also seems like it would require disassembly of his arms to get to the screw, and I'm reticent to perform that kind of surgery myself.

The other issue is his eyes. They're just too dark. They look black. It seems as if he was designed with light piping in mind (which I really hate in an MP-style figure), and when that feature got scrapped they didn't change the materials. That's kind of minor, but it does have a big impact on how he presents. I don't have the other members in front me but I don't recall that problem being so pronounced with them.

But overall I'm really happy that I went in on this set. I'm not sure why but I have a special feeling about First Aid. He was my first Protectobot, and I used to lamely pretend I had the others to combine with when I was actually just swinging a lone combiner arm around. Defensor was the first combiner team where I actually ended up with all 5 toys as a kid, and he was definitely my favorite. I still have him, down in my basement, in pretty decent condition all things considered. I simply can't wait to see GT's Hot Spot. I have a good feeling about him based on how well these others have turned out, even with their flaws.

I had a similar experience. One of the legs on mine went together super smoothly, then the second one took a lot of un-doing and re-doing to kind of massage the tabs together. It mostly behaves now, but...

Yes, I had one leg that was more troublesome than the other too. I think it has to do with some of the really small panels and how they line up when everything is folded in, like they have to be JUST SO for it to really hold together.

That was always one of the things I liked about Defensor, I thought the way Streetwise's hood went up like that looked interesting and added some character. Same for Brawl's turret and barrel on Bruticus, just a nice little detail that makes them feel a bit different from the other combiners. I always found Superion a little disappointing in that every component is not much more than a palette swap. But I never really thought of it as making Defensor's thighs seem shorter, I think that's the sort of effect you get from just looking at a picture as opposed to seeing it in hand.

Went ahead and picked up Bulance and Katana, should be getting them in a few days. Was only going to get First Aid from this set, but that copter is too sexy to ignore. Might wind up getting the whole set anyway at this point. I've got two complete combiner sets for the Decepticons, might be time for me to get a complete one for the Autobots. XD

Got my Bulance today. I got nothing super crazy to add to anything anyone else has said already.

The joints are super solid (wish ALL of them were like this) but due to the massive amount of tabs so many pieces pop out. So far for me the right leg panels pop out at the knee. The BIGGEST issue I have is the shoulder. Everytime move at the shoulder the armor pieces split open. Definitely NEEDs super glue or a screw on the inside the arm pit. Hoping the shoulder armor doesn't break. Shouldn't be too big of a complaint once Hot Spot comes out though. I am still planning on keeping these guys combined.
