Okay, minus 2 months. my bad on my part.

Still doesn't change the facts that their factories are churning out LOTS of products. Not just Transformers. Takara also churns out Zoids and their western analog of Barbie and bishojou figures in the form of Daiki and Dragon Toys and those Tomy rescue stuff and Toy Story.

The world does not revolve only around transformers.

If that was only possible but man does not live on TFs alone ( I also get my other Takara plastic crack in the form of Daiki and Dragon toys;)  ):D

Addendum: They are now into figs for My Hero Academia.

I know what you mean. We still sorta have that but it has drastically changed. We still have an animated show on the air and a toyline (Cyberverse and before that New RiD) but how Hasbro treats those shows is very different then what it was in the BW/BM, UT and Animated days. Those toys are a lot more designed and marketed for more of a mainstream/new/younger audience. I think this happened because Generations has simply Blown Up! Hasbro realized it could diversify its products with Generations and Studio Series taking up the spot of the "higher end" collector-oriented products. This has made the traditional cartoon more youth oriented, a lot less continuity heavy and with little push on having it become a multi-year series. This made toys tied to those cartoons a lot more simplified and inexpensive too.

I really dig the Cyberverse cartoon but have no interest in the figures. That's mildly disappointing but frankly, I can't collect two toylines anyway so I'm kinda glad not having that "option" as it is. I hope Cyberverse goes for at least 3 years. I know the fandom have very mixed feelings about the show and it even feels odd that doesn't even have 20 minutes episodes but I dig it.

Good question. Does anyone remember if Wonderfest did a preview night last year?

Well, Star Convoy is on his way out. Think we'll be seeing more of this guy soon? What's the next big toy event in Japan?

I think they will only move forward if Star Convoy sold well enough.

Why does THAT matter? If Star Convoy sells poorly then how does that means nobody wants Armada Prime?

Hopefully they show it earlier but we may not see it again until February when it was initially revealed, they didn't have a trailer prototype ready and I imagine that's going to be the most challenging part since it has to turn into a base and a dynamic pair of pants

I wouldn't be upset if they sacrificed the base to give us articulated legs.

As a matter of fact, I hope they do. Mine would never be put in base mode anyway (unless it looked absolutely nothing like the original).

They appeal to similar buyers, those who collect Optimus Prime and can afford expensive chug.

That's a bit of a stretch. Star Convoy is a repaint of an obscure Prime while Armada is a new mold and a much more known incarnation of Prime.

    We better.

I've been waiting for an update for months.

Actually, recently on either the 2020 Generations thread or the Star Convoy/Super Megatron/Snaptrap thread, some of us noted that they didn't actually mention Armada Optimus earlier. Remember how John Warden said it was a Takara project? He was referring to Star Convoy, not Armada Optimus.

As such, some of us sort of speculated that New Armada Optimus might have been reworked to be part of WFC's part 2 (or whatever it gets called) and could make an appearance at New York Comic Con starting this Thursday.

It does make SOME sense since Westerners never got the original Star Convoy toy, plus Transformers: Armada sort of brought Transformers back on the map after people got bored with the Beast Era, so why NOT have a new version of Armada Optimus Prime available internationally?

But yeah, part of me is more than a little positive that it's just a pipe dream.

No clue. There's the International Tokyo Toy Show, but that's not until June 13th, 2020. Feels like there should be one a little earlier...

Or they could just go ahead with an MP version. I can't imagine I'm the only one who would buy a tricked out mp bit probably won't bother with this.

personally i think rid01 had more to do with transformers gaining prominence again, armada just benefited from the tidal wave that rid started. rid01 was significantly extended well past its original intended ending by repainting dozens of figures from older lines, eventually turning into universe 1.0 and even concurrently running alongside universe in a limited capacity. but definitely agree that armada prime is more recognizable internationally than star convoy. ive got my doubts hes the new wfc prime, but i do look forward to his release

Armada had a much bigger marketing push and "hey, we're back to the old style," since RiD '01 was still half beast and mostly repaints
