I'm one of the few on earth who was never fully happy with my Fanstoys Sovereign. Bot mode was a thing of beauty but I never wanted to transform it because it was a pain in the butt and the cannon mode had silly obvious robot arms for the struts.
I decided I'd rather sell it for $280 and get Big cannon for $34 to customize, then have lots of monies left to buy more fun stuff. So I did that, and here's my new MP Galvatron. Sure, its not perfect either, but having this and $250 to buy more toys with was an easy choice for me.

I did some sculpt work on the crotch to make it better proportioned to the upper body and so it covers the ugly exposed hip joints, sculpted the hands to be thicker, added hinge joints to the cannon treads/struts, added forearm hole to mount arm cannon, made hexagonal cannon peg circular for mounting versatility, and repainted him to be more GEEWUN accurate.

I made it a priority that everything stay as sturdy and fun as it was meant to be with this figure.

 

Nice work   ..what colour paint did you use for the cannon? i might change mine from orange ..you not into the white face look? ..you really can not go wrong with these for £35, painted up it works in a MP display

 

I really love the metallic purple finish!

 

Barrel is painted with Testors Fiery Orange RC car spray. I did consider painting the face white but just didn't have any problem with it being silver.

Thanks. It's rare that I even think of the word "masterpiece" as having it's actual meaning when applied to Transformers anymore. I only mean this is my Galvatron for my masterpiece toyline collection. The last MP figure I felt actually fit that word's meaning was MP Sunstreaker, which was just a near perfect and fun figure without common QC issues or scary easily breakable parts.

No I felt the exact same way. Not that Big Cannon is better than FT Sovereign, but he was better for me. I've swapped the hands but not painted mine yet. What purple did you use? Looks great.

 

Well I ripped most of the label off of the paint can so I don't know, but the top has a sticker that says 1842 Purple-licious. Hope that helps you find it.
