They even improved on some parts, like the head connextion, chest piece and others.

it's actually easier than you thought, based on my experience.
You just mop the figure with black colour then wipe it again with clean tower.

I wasn't certain which parts in specific were improved on, but recalled that being the case. Thanks for the clarification.

Jinbao version has some minor simplification compare to the original GT version.

Oh, I always thought they were the same...what is the gist of the simplifications?

One that I know of is that on the original, there are sections on the side of Bonecrushers scoop that can be removed to become a pair of 'pickaxe' weapons. On the Jinbao version they're fixed in place to the side of the scoop halves.

Gonna break this line of conversation just briefly for people still a little on-the-fence about the upgrade kit. I just installed mine onto a first-run release, so I fit all the replacement bits and the difference is... frankly it's remarkable. The easiest way to tell if you need to (or at least should) fit the parts is by twisting Longhaul's waist slightly and wiggling the combiner port on Scrapper - if either has significant, free movement before the ratchet finally firms up, their respective counterparts are for you.

The instructions are pretty straight forward. If you managed to transform it in the first place - even with the aid of a video - you can easily fit the kit. But just in case there's people who aren't confidant...

I started with the waist piece:

First I removed the legs - one at a time, to avoid mixing them up. There's two screws which hold each in place. Don't worry if the ratchet piece falls out, since it can only go back in one way around, and since you've got the other leg still attached to the original you know which side goes where. Before fitting the leg to the new waist make sure you slide off the small ratchet piece from the side the screws thread into and replace it with one of the provided new ones. I don't think this is important, but they did provide the parts so they must have a reason. Finish fitting the leg, then repeat with the other side.

Next is the torso. 6 screws come out of Longhaul's back and the entire panel with the bed front on it comes off in one piece. Before removing anything, look at the top of the "spine" - there should be a mushroom sticking out towards Longhaul's right. Remove the spine, then fit the replacement part (complete with legs) with the mushroom lined up (if you're fitting the kit while transformed for combined mode you'll need to rotate the waist 180°). Replace bed panel and screw it back into place.

    Then the cabin:

Start by removing the four screws, split the cabin, and separate it from the pieces it's attached to. One of the screws is held captive by his window, so don't worry if you can't get it out. Remove the combiner port, the two ratchet rings (mine were white, the ones in the instructions were grey), and the small ratchet pin (if it hasn't already fallen out on its own). The new cabin has the same captive screw as the original, so don't forget to loosen this before trying to separate the sides. Now take the new side which the screws thread into and fit the armatures back to their respective posts, put in the ratchet peg, one of the ratchet rings (make sure it fits into the notches), followed by the combiner port.

Here's where you'll panic because you'll realise you put the old and new parts too close together and don't know which part you should be mating with what you've just assembled. But there's a small flap which will be present on your original pieces that isn't on the new ones, so it's not hard to pick them apart. Fit the other ratchet ring on this side, put the two together and tighten up the screws. At this point you'll notice you forgot to put one of the armatures back in place, so undo the screws and fix that before screwing it back together again. Remove the small flaps from the side of the old cabin (I used a pointed nylon spudger for this) and fit them to the new one.

Lastly, you'll remember that you didn't replace the small ratchet pieces on the joints in Longhaul's legs. Use the expletive of your choice at a volume suitable for your environment, then try to decide whether you think it'll make enough of a difference to go back and do it. One at a time, remove each leg again and replace the small piece.

The screws provided are all spare parts. Use them if you lose one of the old ones, or for the battery cover in the new head, but otherwise they're just spares.

So, what does all this actually do? Physically, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure the cabin just closed up the gaps around the ratchet rings, but I've no idea for the waist. In terms of results he just stands better - much better, which is great now that he's taller. That little bit of extra wobble, coupled with how tall the figure is and how much weight is on the top, just makes the whole thing unstable. I still wouldn't trust it to handle the most awkward of poses but it's definitely better than EA's code.

Carry on with your previous conversation!

IIRC one of them has their hand reveal mechanism simplified, too? Being springloaded originally but just a simple slide tab or something now?

I can turn into sort of an artillery emplacement, but it uses the chest piece to do it. Otherwise it can't really stand up, though you might be able to find a configuration which works for you..

that is correct. it was for scraper.

I had the original GT scraper with spring loaded hands and I much prefer the JB version.

In which mode? I found a way to clip it into place on top of Long Haul in vehicle mode, and there's a space just behind his head in robot mode which lets you insert the gestalt handle to make a shoulder/back mounted artillery cannon. I even found one way to backmount it in gestalt mode, though it does rely on Long Haul's pistol to give it something to hang off, so it can be knocked loose fairly easily when posing the gestalt.
