So, if he came with a trailer, he'd make a nice Leader class...

 

Seems like it, but I'd want him to be bigger than that myself.

 

When he combines with Galaxy Shuttle and Overload, you won't really mind the uncombined size.

 

Actually, I'll go a step further. They won't call him him Overload. They'll call him Roller. IDW reference, G1 reference. Ticks all the boxes.

When are we going to see more about this armada prime? I mean was it cancelled or something, we saw it once and we haven\'t seen it since, I mean what happened.

 

So far, it seems we're all banking on some update by next year's Winter Wonderfest.

Star Convoy was also a retool, not what appears to be a brand new mold. It's entirely possible one of the reasons Takara is staggering the Seacons is to give them time to wrap on Armada Prime for his inclusion in the new Selects/Legends universe.

Because we don't know the scale of what's going on with Armada Prime. It's possible his trailer isn't ready...or if they revealed the prototype it would've given away the overall plan for Earthrise (and possibly WfC 3) by showing it having the AIR Lock and ramp/road connection points.

It's also possible they teased Armada Prime, but they're waiting to reveal him in full for when they've got the plans on how/if/when they plan on doing Jetfire/Overload. Or if they reveal the prototype too soon it'll give away that Jetfire/Overload are coming because (like Legends Ginrai) he'll have obvious signs of connecting to those two.

Who knows, maybe that last bit is the final hurdle. They've got a prototype and they're debating if it needs to include room for a future Overload/Jetfire.

 

As much as I want to hear something new already, this is spot on.

Being a heavy retool, Star Convoy probably didn't need so much time to brainstorm. Just color him up, give him a shiny Matrix, and there you go.

Armada Optimus, meanwhile, is a whole other beast built from the ground-up. And a full-on announcement probably wouldn't feel the same if they didn't show off his trailer and the accompanying Super Mode at the same time.

(Incidentally, how does/did Legends Ginrai factor into anything? Was it because his reveal was foreshadowing Godbomber's?)

 

Yes.

The tooling changes to PMOP to produce Ginrai gave away that a Godbomber was almost certainly coming. So the comparison is that maybe Takara doesn't want to reveal Armada Prime until they know for sure if they're doing Overload/Jetfire because they don't want to give it away one way or another.

 

I predict that Armada Prime is going to look awesome once we finally see a full reveal for it.

I also continue to beg HasTak for a second PMOP from the PotP mold. The inner bot mode of Selects Star Convoy already shows it could be awesome.

That's the one thing I'd pony up for out of Generations Selects no matter the cost. An actual functional PMOP from that mold. (With or without the power master itself though that would be great lol.) The last PMOP we got was fine, but didn't have the combining function and that PotP design is *perfect* for it.

I understand they don't want to oversaturate its re-use though, so we'll likely be waiting a while, if ever.
