Assuming Aaron also took 18 months of work to design Armada Unicron, that design was probably made in 2001. 18 years later, you would expect a much bigger leap in engineering. Think about G1 Optimus Prime and Bendy Prime.
Haslab Unicron is no Bendy Prime, it is Supermode OP's equivalent, a complicated, advanced, innovative TF which should never be transformed and will rarely be posed.
