Another post dealing in absolutes. Seriously, this is what is wrong with this fandom. Spreading information purely based on opinion and passing it on like it's fact.

So much back and forth when it really boils down to simply having a product that x number of fans want more than the other. They can bitch and whine about zetacron galvanizing fan funds, and even though that is for sure at least partly true, that's just part of having what is perceived to be an inferior product? Ultimately the blame can only lie on the shortcomings of the product offering.
Seems dumb to blame fans for voting with their dollar for what they want most. Such basic shit. The only path is to learn from this experience. Blaming and whining = absolutely nothing.

Only the big stores even have Hasbro contracts, so most would be unaffected.
China is a large and growing market unto itself. Add in Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, etc, and there's quite a large market for transforming figures outside of North America. If 3Ps could only sell within Asia, they'd likely all continue to thrive, which may also be part of why they don't mind testing the waters with Hasbro from time to time and taking risks.

The number of preorder listings for this guy on Taobao has grown. From when it was revealed to now, it's almost quadrupled in number. I've just counted 40 listings.

I'm not convinced the project has been canned

How I see this going down, there will be a soft release with zero publicity. Everyone who has a pre ordered this clearly wants it already. We will all receive notifications of a price and choose to buy it or not. After that the floodgates will be open for a second run. The chaos bringer will bring chaos to the world of 3P for all of us.

Yes I have had a bit to drink tonight...

No, honestly he does partake in many of the conceptual design process of some of the toys. Especially, Botshots and the Rescue Heroes stuff. currently and I believe even some siege and Cyberverse currently, he's a really busy dude. He's also making tons of promo art as well. anyway...

He's contributed a ton of stuff trust me, He's been working with Hasbro since the Aaron Archer days. He actually Came up with Armada Unicron's toy design and gimmick ideas as well.

And while I don't agree with everything he says, again I agree with a good chunk. He's just a passionate artist that's sick of his work being stolen to benefit others. By all means try to see it from his world in his shoes. He's come really far in his walk. He means well. He's just speaking from his heart is all. As an Artist who been taken for granted on more than one occasion, I understand where he's coming from as well.

It's just a shame people come down on me all the time here and you guys always thing oh I'm just so full of shit all the time.

I'm all heart all the time. passionate as fuck always have been. always will be. If that pisses people off, so be it.

As an artist I can confirm, it is extremely infuriating to see someone steal art or just blatantly rip it off.

Took me a while to figure out that you weren't just having half a conversation with yourself - had to hit the "show ignored content" button. You're wasting your time with that one.

Yup. Not worth arguing with him. Really it's not worth arguing at all, but in particular it's not worth arguing with him.

Forgive my lack of understanding but what exactly does Marcelo's art being stolen have to do with zetacron?

Will you fucking nerds shut up so that this thread only gets bumped when something to do with core star happens? Better yet delete the thread until then so we can have one that isn't 99% bullshit. God damn you guys are why nerdy hobbies get people beat up in school. Get a life.

Ok I already have a huuuge problem with that guys rant. Say you only bought official like he suggests, there was a metric f***ton of overpriced OFFICIAL merch dropped on the same day as unicron was announced. The preorders, the store exclusives, convention exclusives, plus lets not forget the $400+ MP prime 3.0 that recently shipped. I remember someone at the time doing the math and it basically boiled down to the siege stuff alone costing almost as much as unicron. So yeah, not buying 3p would not have changed the wallet crunch at all.

Also his argument that only 3P collectors want unicron to fail is flawed as well. I WAS almost entirely a HasTak purist up until siege, they are the ones that drove me away by constantly increasing prices. If hasbro wants to charge collector prices for their stuff then I better damn well not have to buy and return multiple figures before I get one that doesn't have a part snap off transforming it! Dont even get me started on the stupid pulse crap they have been pulling with the takara releases, the whole forcing you to lock in a preorder MONTHS before a figure comes in for "reasons" aka they dont want people waiting until reviews come out before buying.

To me the Haslab Unicron symbolized the worst of hasbro right now, an half-assed design at astronomical collector prices put behind an arbitrary bullshit buying system to push people into paying for something that they wont even get for a year+.
It was basically a litmus test to see just how far they could push us until we broke, hell they already announced another reduction in quality/packaging yet increase in price.
It failing, especially after the extension and everything, only goes to show that I was not the only HASBRO customer that is unhappy with them.

To make things entirely clear, if the "artist" reflects any on how Hasbro feels about their customers then I can do without playing their game entirely, I am sure the money could be put towards much more useful hobbies.

Artists need to learn to be businessman. They have to learn that they have to give away some of their art. Watermark or label the free art so that people can find you.

When you work for someone, you don’t just “give away” your art. Not if you plan on making a living.

If you are working for someone, the art is not "stolen" from you, but your employer.

It's actually ironic if you think about it. Cause most contracted artist's, like the guy that made the rant, likely got their start doing unofficial...or THIRD PARTY fan art based on existing IP.

You actually still have ownership of it and depending on contracts can ask them to take it down or not have it shown. And as such, having ownership of the original piece, if it’s stolen it’s stolen from you, and (in certain situations) the employer. A lot of cases the employer is buying it be able to use it, while you yourself still remain the owner of the piece.
