No, and it hasn't stopped people from seeing them, and definitely did not stop the strong opening showings.

However that's not the point I made. It's funny to me how a movie clearly based on toys (even it's title) doesn't seem to provoke the whole, "well it's a movie based on toys" argument as much as Transformer films do. Maybe that's because the quality of the characterization in the Toy Story films has been much better than the TF films as a whole (my 2nd point) .

Because the toys in Toy Story are fictional first. (The main ones anyways, barring Mr. Potato Head) The real world Toy Story toys sell based on the success of the films. The opposite is true for Transformers.

In DOTM Michael Bay did work with James Cameron for the movie's 3D..I hope Paramount will find him after James Cameron finish his Avatar sequels.. I think Cameron will be interested as he prefer Robots/Android genre a lot.

James Cameron or James Wan will be perfect choice.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts? Let him direct some bigger studio stuff first, Kong was okay but it was mostly a mess

Kenneth Branagh? Absolutely. Give me my Shakespearean transformers (but also give him complete creative control and don’t screw him like they did with Thor)

James Gunn? Yeah. The Suicide Squad might change my opinion but I’m down for it.

Gore Verbinski? Ehhhhhh maybe. Idk. Don’t let him do the sequels if he does.

Robert Rodriquez? Only if he’s got a VERY good producer to reign him in. I loved Alita but I also realize it started as a James Cameron passion project and that’s probably how it was shot too.

Alien 3 was a poor experience for Fincher and he vowed never to do sci-fi again.

As a fan of Del Toro who enjoyed his Spanish language films like Cronos, Devil's Backbone and Pan's Labyrinth and loved Blade 2 and Shape of Water even enjoyed Hellboy 1 and 2 but disliked Pacific Rim, i think Del Toro should stick to personal projects of his own.

 

masaaki yuasa could make a great director for an animated film, the only work of their's ive seen so far is devilman crybaby which is really great however a tf film would have to be different from that for "obvious" reasons, from what i understand those reasons seem to be an exception for most of his works but i could be wrong

It's hard to say, because just because a director may have a good track record doesn't mean they're automatically going to make a masterpiece every time. They could make a great romantic comedy but make a terrible action film.

Furthermore, the script also plays a big (arguably bigger) role in whether a movie will be good or not.
