Wait. Why the hell is thhere an orange cap at all?!?!?
Those are mandated by gov’t regulations (generally in the US) to prevent people from thinking a toy gun is real.
This thing is a quarter the size of a real gun. It’s too small to even be mistaken for one of those little pop-guns that saloon “working girls” keep in their garter belts in cowboy movies.
Surely they could have left the safety cap off this one?

Also, and more importantly. Best Prime to scale with this? (ie: look properly G1 and be exact same height) Is there one yet?

 

It seems their are people who can't see the difference.

I don't mind the orange cap as long as it's removable or a seperate piece. It will be the first piece since I started collecting that I'm going to "loose".

Edit: If someone already has this figure and DX9 Dutch or one of his recolor please a picture. Hope he's taller than Ironhide and Ratchet.

 

There are plenty of guns that are that size. One of the more popular handguns in the US is the Ruger LCP which is only slightly larger than Megs.

Not unless they've changed the design of the orange thing. The cap shown in the new pics clearly has a flat top - the orange thing here has a peg sticking out of it.

 

Thanks for clarifying. Don’t know which bothers me more, that someone could mistake this toy for a real firearm, or that a real firearm that small and easily hidden is considered a “popular handgun in the US.”

As long as the cap is easily removable I’ll be happy.

Doing some research looks like this is a smidge taller than DX9 (10.5cm) but pretty much spot-on to Magic Square(11cm). That’s good for me because I prefer MS’s sculpt.

 

If you’re looking at measurements listed on internet shops then don’t bother, they’re almost always incorrect, especially before release. It’s a guess at best on their part, sometimes not even that.

 

I'll probably go shiny on both.  

 

Don't know if it makes you feel any better, but the majority of people who carry a gun that small do it for comfort while carrying and as a last ditch effort for self defense. The nut jobs that don't follow the law usually carry something bigger with more capacity. But still, there's a reason for the orange plug even at this size, and unfortunately I'll be keeping mine in if I ever take it out of the house. Just typing this out has made me leery that he'll never make it to my office legends display.

 

Thanks for explaining. Without meaning to get too political, nope not really any better. I’m from Australia where the thought of anyone other than a policeman or security office “carrying” or needing a gun for self-defence is simply laughable.
As for this, I’d imagine you’ll be fine as long as it’s in bot mode. I had Apollyon and IT-01 on my desk at work for ages. In bot mode they’re just another robot. But I would never transform a gun-former at work or carry one around in anything other than robot mode.

I’ve just ordered this, MS Prime and IF BW Megatron to join my Optimus/Megatron collection. Probably also order ToyWorlds Transmetal Megatron, if we ever get confirmation of a matching Primal.
Hopefully the various pairs look good together.

Huh, both plugged and unplugged, hopefully it's reversible.

One side of the pistol looks much better than the other.

 

This looks pretty good overall. Gun mode is a little rougher than expected but considering the size, it'll be alright. I am a little confused why the box for the cartoon accurate one is a Microchange homage though. Would make more sense for the toy colored one, but it's just a minor nitpick.

 

Really want to see him next to other na figures. Just sayin.
