I like the redos and preemptively sold my Starscream and Soundwave (both were Hasbro so they didn't fit 100% colorwise for me anyway) in prep for eventual + or remakes. But honestly, I also want to get TT on track for rolling out some of the good ol boys who haven't been done in tandem with these redos. Hound finally coming out is a dream come true for me, but I want a complete S1 set, and then I can happily move on to BW, I think.

I'm with you, I don't currently own a MP Starscream or Soundwave either.

 

He’s a hell of a lot smarter than me. I’d love to unload my S1 seekers and Soundwave and Soundblaster with confidence. I know remakes are coming...... but I keep figures like MP-10 and all the variants after buying 44 so I don’t event know what my goals are any more lol.

The main point Here I feel is I would be happier with new seekers and Soundwave.

I get that some folks sell theirs off once they feel they’re obsolete, but man, that’d be tough for me to do. Especially without a 100% confirmed new version on its way. The gap in my collection would drive me mad like a telltale heart.

 

I got sold off my MP Soundwave & Seekers several months back as well because I feel certain enough we'll get new versions eventually. I did the same with MP-14, 17, 18, 19, 20 & 21 also once it became clear we'd be getting + versions of them. I've kept the van bros as I did my own minor + mods to them, Tracks... I don't know why I haven't sold him as a + version will probably happen too.

It left my MP collection depleted for a while but it's gradually filling out again. So far Soundwave and the Seekers are the only ones I've sold where a new version or + release hasn't been announced. I just feel given the direction of the line and things like the lack of a Soundwave+, new Starscream headsculpt with MP-44, that it's a matter of when, not if, they eventually get made.

Fingers crossed for a reveal. TT doesn't seem to be listed among the exhibitors at the All-Japan Model & Hobby Show. Don't know if they were in previous years or if they just showed up unannounced.

Really hoping we'll get some new MP news but with 4 new molds still in the pipeline they may just make us wait a little bit longer.

 

Depends on if Bumblebee is the only delay or if he triggers a cascade failure. (And that's probably determined by who's made in which factory.) But Takara shouldn't let more than a month go by without a new release as they have in the past, and I believe April (seven months from now) is still open...?

 

The only new mold, so far, for 2020 is Lio Convoy.

March- Sunburned Primal

 

Well the next release should be G1 or something that turns into something mechanical.  
I guess their plan is to do a lio convoy repaint as a #numbered release, similar to 32/38,so I'm guessing well see Dietrus as a repaint this year at some point.

 

To be fair, guys, I haven't sold all my stuff. I still have Thundercracker and Skywarp, as well as Acid Storm and Sunstorm. It's pretty likely the latter two won't get remade, and given I'm angling my collection these days toward season 1 only, it's not very difficult for me to justify nuking a bunch of figures. I collect a lot of figures, and am already out of space, and have been for a while. I sold my MP-10 at the same time I sold Starscream and Soundwave, and it didn't hurt me that much simply because I'm not solely invested in this one figure collection. I'm also very patient, because I like a lot of stuff, have a lot of hobbies, and simply focus on other things instead of hyperfocusing on TFs, which I think is an issue a lot of people have when it comes to how impatient they are with the new releases.

Plus, when it comes right down to it, if I could only pick between G1 and BW, for example, I wouldn't bat an eyelash and would pick BW every time, because BW was my Transformers show (my brother's VHS tapes introduced me to G1, since I was born about 5 years too late, lol). I owned a bunch of G1 toys, but my allegiance is solely to toon accuracy, simply by virtue of it being what I grew up with watching again and again. I don't fault anyone for liking the toys, but I will swap up in a heartbeat if it means I can go from a generic Optimus design that takes a lot of his best elements to literally the thing that shaped my childhood, you know?

 

I haven't sold any of my MPs. I'm enjoying every version.....Original, Toon Accurate, Next Gen, Diaclones, MPMs.

I still intend to buy MPM09, if Chosen Prime ever gets back to me about the funds and gift certificate from an order I was forced to cancel last minute.

AJ still has a release date of 28 Sept. Maybe they haven't updated their site yet?

 

Yeah I experienced that waiting on more BW MPs until I got into 1/6 scale figures at the start of this yr. I've had so much to catch up on and tonnes of different collections to work on so I'm pretty indifferent to Takara's release schedule at the moment. I would be pretty excited for a BW Inferno, Rhinox or Galvatron though.

On a brighter note, How cool would it be to get a masterpiece Punch/ Counter- Punch? Not see any of the "other" bot from behind? Not that it'll happen, but that would be awesome as hell to me. Didn't have any connection to the character (too late into the show for me) back in the day, but always loved the concept, and I remember trying to suss it out for a possible Alternators custom that I ended up not getting to do.

 

Subjectively I would be stoked with a new Starscream but I'd still rather see new characters done anyway. Plus I'm not strictly G1 so an eventual MPM Starscream 2.0 will scratch that itch anyway.
With that said Starscream is by far the most obvious candidate for a redo purely because MP11 wasn't even a redo so much as it was a corrected version; it's inclusion displaced Soundwave's release so it wasn't even in the grand plan. It might also be part of why they released the other Seekers in such limited fashion. I don't know how far in advance they plan but I could imagine them considering a more proper redo and wondering if they should straight up skip the MP11 versions and just go with their eventual release of a new Starscream.
The Lambos could work but the fact that the plus versions exist does make it seem that Takara aren't in THAT much of a hurry to just replace everyone at the drop of a hat. The Lambos DO make sense to redo but it'd be odd for them to do these redecoes to fill the niche that a new mold would fill soon after (at that point you'd think we'd just get Deepcover and Slicer already.)

 

@chchchch inspired me to go back and watch the season 1 and 2 intros last night ,the first 5 Transformers we see have all been recent releases: Sideswipe+.Sunstreaker, Optimus 3.0,Hound...........and maybe Trailbreaker? It's about time he gets his number called. and he would actually make alot of sense. Then again going by that logic a case could be made for Mirage at the beginning of the intro with : Wheeljack + and Bee 2.0.

The beauty of redoing Starscream is he gives you at least 2 other at best 5 repaints that are actually characters that don't count as new molds.

 

I think it's a matter of when, not if, we get a new version of Starscream.
I'm hoping Thundercracker and Skywarp receive an update from that new mold. I'd be down for the Rainmakers, as well......eventually.

Although, I'm still rooting for Mirage/CJ/Jazz as being next up.
