So all those respected reviewers on YouTube are mishandling their figures? This attitude of 'well, mine is okay so it must be your fault' does my head in. There are widespread reports of problems with the figure, yet some people (some of whom don't even own it) still insist it's 'user error'. I kind of hope theirs ends up being broken through no fault of their own as well! I just wanna have an auto responder to those who say the problem must be down to people mishandling figures because theirs just happens to be okay (for the time being).

If bending a knee causes it to break, user error shouldn't even enter into it. That's down to crappy design and even worse QC. Whether Takara was aware of it before release or not (how could they not have been?), it's staggeringly incompetent either way. It's not like they don't have form in this area either (MP-09 anyone?).

Exactly. The left knee on mine was broken out of the box. I'm careful as fuck with my figures as well. The only other figure I've had with breakage out of the box was DX9's Gabriel and we all know was a QC nightmare that was. At least that was cheaper than MP-44.

I should have my head examined for changing my mind and buying MP-44. Everything I thought I'd hate about the figure is exactly as much of an issue as I thought it would be. That it feels cheap as crap in hand and was broken out of the box was just the extra kick in the teeth.

If this delay to MP-45 is to check things over and fix any issues, all the better!

You must be kidding right? A lot of these things are shipped by SEA. You are saying these things are not subjected to some shaking during transport? How about when they are transported by truck on the way to warehouses?

10 MP-44s is a small sample. You can't draw any conclusions based on that.

Jokes aside, isn’t it awesome we can finally pose Prime in this position and recreate this scene once we get MP-45 (and depending if one’s MP-44 has no knee problems)?

Definitely! After finding and posting that picture I took MP-44 and put him in just that position - you can get damn close, which is something you've never been able to do with MPs before. And of course we have cartoon-accurate versions of every character from that picture - I can't wait to put MP-45 in that position in front of the others.

No, i meant that that they might be selling the figure at a later date, due to the increase in tax soon, for one reason or another.

I dunno, you can get pretty close with the alternatives. There are pluses and minuses to both.

Bearing in mind I did both of those in about two second apiece.

I don’t have the 3P versions so can’t comment, but I mainly meant that it’s something we couldn’t do with the last generation of MPs. I still love MP-10, MP-12, MP-17 et al, but since Sunstreaker articulation has become much more of a focus (no doubt feeding into 3P too) and I love it.

Yeah it's cool, although to be honest I'm more of a display guy so I tend to put them in a case and leave them be. In that respect all of this crazy articulation at the expense of durability and accuracy doesn't do it for me. I do like how MP-44 looks from dead centre and low down. That's a pretty specific angle though! I do kinda wish I'd just stopped with TE-01. It's not completely toon accurate and loses out to MP-44 in a number of areas, but it's better in just as many and a lot cheaper.

Anyway, to try and bring this back on topic I'm genuinely fearful for MP-45 and MP-47 now. I'm worried the figures are becoming over-engineered to the point that they break far more easily than they ever used to. I buy a mixture of official and 3P (whichever is more toon accurate at the time), so it's not like I have some sort of vested interest in seeing Takara fail. I just want toy robots that look nice, don't break and aren't overpriced...

I'm not sure Bee and Hound will have the over-engineered problem the larger bots have faced, especially Hound. At a glance he doesn't seem any more complicated than the previous Autobot cars (not counting Sunstreaker who was designed to flip inside out and have "two" vehicle modes). Bee's similar to that, only a lot more compact, and early reports are that while he has a few panels they all come together in a very logical way.

Also neither of them will be loaded with tricks like having ratchets upon ratchets in the limbs with double knees designed in what can only be described as an insane attempt to recreate the articulation of the human body in a transforming robot. There's just so much less to them physically than MP-44 that there also happens to be so much less that can likely go wrong.

Too much common sense in the post above, this site is probably about to implode.

Cool...265 pages of this thread and you want me to take time to read. I should have spent several hours catching up. My bad.

Yeah I hope you're right mate, but you never know. Anyway, once bitten and all that...

To be fair it's been pretty well publicised outside of this thread.

I've not had any problems as of yet, but I also haven't posed him nearly as much as you have. Every time I bend his knees I feel like I'm rolling the dice...
