Well, I decided to change my vote from TE-01 to MP44. I placed an order for it today. After watching a few comparison reviews, and attempting to animate TE-01, I've decided that the extra articulation and Accessories of MP44 is worth the investment for my target use, which will be Stop Motion. As a display piece, TE-01 ticked all the boxes for me, but when I factor in the emotion you can pull out of the MP44 in direct comparison, not to mention the smaller spaced ratchets, for me the choice is clear. I'll be selling my TE-01 and TE-01B. There is half my cost. TE-01 is still a great figure, but for my use-case, I think MP44 will be a better choice.

I posted this with TE-01 and MS-01 a while back. Now with MP-44.

Value is in the eye of the beholder. I'll just say that I'm very pleased with what I got for what I paid in each of these cases. Once I have them in hand, cost really no longer enters the equation for me because the money has already left my wallet. It becomes simply whether I enjoy the figure or not. Happy to say I've enjoyed owning these three.

Don't feel bad... I caved in today and ordered MP-44. Had some rewards points to burn.

I am keeping my TE-01... and just ordered the Shattered Glass version as well... and I am most definitely still keeping MS-01 as THE Prime in my main Autobot G1 S1 display. MP-44 will be doing duty in the my combat display due to his articulation.

    Haha. Nice!

Yeah. I’m going to have to sell my other ones to justify it. But it’s nice to know I’m not the only one to cave!

Soooooo....I started out "Team Magic Square," then moved to "Team Transform Element," and after seeing more of the official in hand and in reviews, I finally caved as well. I got mine for a deal because of a broken wheel (original buyer snapped it somehow) that I will try to repair:

MP-44 does not partsform the chest... parts form would imply that it detaches and is put back on, the windows flip. Not partsforming at all

Nah. TE-01 is a fine figure but I really need MP-44. Just sitting there on the money saved until it is more safe to buy.

I still stand by all the complaints and criticisms. He has a lot of issues. Good articulation... but a lot of issues.

I’m going to have him bent on one knee in shooting pose so most of his flaws won’t be visible anywho.

Wait for the reissue, It will likely address those issues that are being experienced by some. It usually gets the same AJP Di$count as well.

    Good for you man.

True. It is unfortunate (for me anyway) that DB's alt mode looks like an afterthought. I wouldn't care if it was, say, something other than an iconic carbot.

I love that MP-10! I was tweaking mine to get him more toy accurate but this is spectacular. I may follow what you’ve done here.

    Cheers fellas :)

It's not for the feint hearted. There's also a small element of parts forming now to get him into alt mode but I think it's worth the pay off. The biggest mod was removing the fake grill/abs but that then gives him a slight ab crunch so it's a win. Besides that I trimmed the sides of the matrix chamber, removed and reattached his bumper & silver striping, condensed his waist and 3d printed his g1 toy decals into 3d models (that I can up onto Shapeways if needed).

Oh and shortened his antennae. With a splash of paint here and there.

Setting up the trifecta shot tomorrow. Toy OG - Toy PMOP - Sunbow. MP style.

I would buy it if I could get it for the same price as TE or MS. Just like I bought both TE and MS. But even at that price it wouldn’t be my definitive Optimus because I think it looks bad. Even if it was $50, it would still look like a mess.
And charging extra for all the add-ons and gimmicks doesn’t really work for me. Because they’re things I don’t really want so they have no real value. They actually detract from the worth of the figure because they make it cost more and make it less desirable.

I'm not talking about you then, I'm talking about the people who truly prefer MP-44, but cannot and will not justify the price.

Yeah I'm with you. The price was never a limiting factor for me. I'm lucky enough to not miss $500 so if he looked good and came with accessories Iwanted I would have bought him.

MP-44 just doesn't look good to me at all.

I can't forgive that backpack as it makes him malformed and just ugly and non-elegant and TE and MS have shown there is no reason for it. I don't care how poseable he is, how many duplicate updated humans he has, or other "going to sit in a box" accessories he comes with because if he looks like Hunchback Prime he's an instant skip.

Maybe they'll get it right with v4 in another 5 years.
