That awful slow wait for a figure to ship! I finally managed to order this guy after having him in my radar for a long time now. Honestly I cannot wait!

I’m so excited to finally have this in my collection. I even chose 2 day shipping at Tfsource. They haven’t shipped it yet, it’s only been a day but the excitement makes it feel longer

 

I have played with this guy for a week, it's an amazing toy! Really fun and complex. It's a pity the two halves of the front part of the car tend to slide to the sides in robot mode.

 

The two sides? How do you mean?

 

The pieces that contain the headlights, that also form most of the chest, tend to slide to the outside in robot mode, at least in my unit. I can't figure how to secure them.

 

Look under those pieces -- they're friction sliders held in by a screw. Get a Philips #0 driver and tighten them up (but not too much, since they need to slide).

Hmmm. Mine are very secure in either mode and don't slide around unless I push them. Have you tried tightening the screw that holds them to the figure?

He just came today and I’m blown away!

 

Forgive the photo spam, I just really like this figure. The design is definitely amongst my favorite in the bayverse and the detailing of this figure is just so perfect. Also a little gag with bumblebee accusing him of copying his wings.

So I was feeling a little artistic and had been wanting to add some details to my La Hire for a while. The missing orange on the front and rear fins in car mode, and robot head for starters. As I got going I ended up adding gold detailing to the bot mode to match some screenshots from the film, as well as getting rid of the bright silver chest/collar bone and orange knees to make it a bit more screen accurate. Then I figured I had to paint the guns... Ultimately I ended up with this:


Not the most professional or flawless finish but to the naked eye in person it looks good enough to me and I think he looks even more awesome. This and MP44 are easily my favourite figures of the year (maybe ever).

 

Painting the orange plastic round knee parts eliminates my only real complaint with the look of LA Hire. Nicely done.

 

If anyone has any of the Lego ironman sets, the effect parts fit into the front of the gun with a little sanding!

 

Looks amazing! I’m totally using yours as inspiration if I ever get around to painting mine up.
