There's only 1 in-stock source at this time for regular Mirage (US seller too)...if you're willing to pay the early bird eBay premium. October 1st seems to be the real release date.

Edit: Hmm, the price went up since it was originally listed.

Sweet set-up, love the inclusion of Lugnut and Slipstream. Think I’m gonna go for something similar.

Are those the Fansproject Insecticons? They fit in nicely.

Not really. It demonstrates exactly why I call this a splitting hairs argument. The entire argument honestly boils down to "spirit of the word" vs "letter of the word". Without a proper shorthand for this new method of taking and retooling the design skeleton itself, "remold"/"retool" still fits the spirit of what's meant even if people want to argue on technical definition.

If a casual glance would make you think it's the same mold, I don't see a reason to argue so vehemently against calling it a remold.

Still, Nightbird will likely be the one dip I have into this one, though I fear for a lot of the issues I keep hearing in here...

He's absolutely right in this instance. A remold is CHUG Inferno and Grapple, or CW's Ironhide, Trailbreaker, or Offroad. Heck, an older one than that... Energon Inferno and Energon Roadbuster. A shared engineering example would be the Chromia/Nightbird mold and the Moonracer/Firestar mold or Silverbolt/Scattershot vs Hun-Grrr/Snaptrap. Shared engineering IS what's going on here, not simple remolding. I know the reuse of the hip pieces and transformation scheme tend to throw people for a loop, I get it, but it really is what he's saying. It's shared engineering, not a remold.

Before anyone brings up Ironhide and Ratchet, no two surfaces (other than their windshields and feet) are alike. Both have different bumpers, different greebling, even the limbs are different. That goes beyond a simple retool/remold.

Because facts are facts. It's not the same mold. Just like Energon Starscream and G2 Smokescreen are not the same mold despite sharing the same engineering, even more so that these two molds.

There's no technicalities, no splitting hairs, no two ways about it. They are different molds. You can feel like the differences aren't enough for your personally, but factually you are wrong.

I know Ironhide/Ratchet have more similarities than that. I think the biceps are the same, maybe the toes too.

“Spirit of the word” arguments are the only ones that split hairs, facts are facts and words have actual meanings

Skywarp is my favorite Seeker out of the Siege line next to Redwing.

Not the best photo, but I like the pose and the Jetfire effects work nicely with him. I really need to invest in a proper stand though.

Is he that dark in hand or does he just look really dark in pics?

He photographs more indigo than the blue her really is, so maybe two shades darker in pics than in hand. Still, he’s dark enough that it obscures a lot of detail, both sculpted and painted.

They're not, though. "Spirit of the word" boils down to the fandoms use of terminology, which often differs already from the usage Hasbro has. This is why "Repaint" is still casually tossed around to refer to "redeco", or why "kibble" originally meant extra parts like the combiners had vs the fandom's use for "bits of the alt mode still visible". Same as "Spirit of the law" vs "Letter of the law".

It's an easier shorthand, so no matter how much know-how I have on the actual definitions, I'm going to use it. And that much shared engineering isn't going to make me see it as "unique" no matter how many "Well, technically" aspects there are.

Still, said I'd like to get ahold of at least one, so at least let the appreciation stay on track and move along.

and again, you are the one splitting hairs, you are the one trying to say that a factual statement (chromia is not a remold) is wrong

I'm not though. My last post literally mentioned that I'm more than aware the terminology is in fact wrong on the technical level, just that the level of shared engineering does not make me see much a point in fussing about the technical definition being incorrect when the general purpose of the statement still rings appropriately. It's like knowing that a tomato is a fruit/berry but still calling it a vegetable because it's still served like one. I even highlighted that some definitions we use vary from what Hasbro might (we also see this a lot with size class vs price point).

Factually incorrect or not, and even with my full knowledge that it is not, by letter of the definition, the correct term, using the term "remold/retool" still roughly approximates the look even even feel of these two molds in relation to each other. If you'd like to petition a new shorthand term for these specific instances, perhaps we could try and spread something like "Re-CAD" or something to aid in casual talk without multiple parties trying to race in to see who can push up their glasses and correct someone first. :p

I didn't know where else to post this, but what does it mean whenone says 'overflow' in response to a thread for a new toy?
